Having difficulties installing Dropbear SSH on your iPhone? Never fear! Nate True has written a collection of scripts to automate the process. In 4 easy steps –

  1. Jailbreak the iPhone — “jailbreak.exe” included.
  2. Download Nate True’s iPhone SSH kit (below) and extract it somewhere.
  3. Run “sshify-windows.bat” and follow the instructions carefully.
  4. Connect with SSH!

By default the root password is “dottie.”
Username: root
Password: dottie

Capture the iPhone’s IP address under Settings -> Wi-Fi. Tap the blue icon next to the connected network.

These scripts are written for Windows; a Mac equivalent shouldn’t be difficult to create. Basically “sshify-windows.bat” needs modification, and a Mac-compiled version of iPhoneInterface has to be used.

Thanks Alin

SO does SSH operate via usb or wireless network. If it does it would suck because my router is messing up right now.. Think it may be time for a new one.

dose this work with the 1.01 updated iphone?

I dont trust that update. it might be something simple like Apple just changing the root password to something else, but whatever they did they are now able to make silent updates to all the 1.01 fw iPhones, whenever they want. If you want Apple messing with your iPhone every night and adding ’security patches’ on their own, then go ahead and update. I’m not messing with that.
