iPhone Installer Script for Installer.app

Posted by greg

Nullriver’s Installer.app: no doubt the easiest method to install iPhone homebrew apps & games directly from the phone itself.

The problem: how the hell do you install “Installer.app” in the first place? I’ve received countless emails asking this question… And if you’re not *nix (command line) savvy, it could be quite a tedious/frustrating procedure.

The answer:

New! We now have a single command Mac (PPC & Intel) installer for Installer.app, get it here. This will automate the entire jailbreak and Installer.app installation process for your 1.0 or 1.0.1 iPhone, including automatically downloading the right firmware files. Be sure to read the short README file for installation instructions.

If possible, it is recommended you do a full restore of your iPhone using iTunes before installing this, but this is not required — it will simply make for a cleaner install.

Yep — that’s right. Using the supplied shell script, which is somewhat similar to Nate True’s iPhone SSH Kit for Windows, you’ll soon be installing apps/games as if it were going out of style.

Download the package, unzip it, open Mac’s Finder and type “Terminal” in the dialog’s search box. Locate “Terminal.app” and double click. Change directory to where you’ve unzipped the package. For example: if you’ve decompressed the zip to your desktop, type “cd Desktop/iPhoneInstaller” (without the quotes). Execute “get_installer.sh” (type “./get_installer.sh”) — the rest is easy pickings.

it sure does. I restored my phone with fw 1.0 (in preparation for my TSIM) and used this to reinstall SSH and everything else. Works beautifully.
