I’m sure many of these will spring up over time; however, here is the first IM client native to Apple’s iPhone — ApolloIM.
Currently in the very early beta stages, ApolloIM only supports the AIM protocol. It’s built on an old, unmaintained library called libFiretalk. The future, according to project author, Arminius2, is to bring an Adium-type universal IM client to the iPhone. I’ll be looking forward to that.
If you’re reading this while thinking, “hey, I know Objective C & UIKit. I’m also vastly familiar with libPurple.” Then I suggest following the source link to lend a helping hand.
Keep refreshing both this site and your Installer.app instance for updates!
I should mention, if you’re using Nullriver’s Installer, ApolloIM is already available via the community sources. That’s where I spotted it. Otherwise, feel free to download from iPhone hacks below.
