PSS Sim Kit / Hyper-Card

Posted by Alias420

Update: I can now verify 100% the hyper-card works to unlock your iPhone for use with other SIM’s I’m using my Rogers v3 SIM in my iPhone right now. Since it works I will now link to them. I bought mine over at hyper-card.com. Expect a post soon, documenting my experience.

A video and some confirmations have been floating around on some forums lately about a new SIM unlock device much like Bladox’s TurboSIM, going by the name of PSS Sim Kit or Hyper-Card. None of these sources are overly credible and this could very well be a scam. We will soon find out the truth about this iPhone hack and whether it is true or not, I have ordered one from the company and it has left Taiwan already. As soon as it arrives I will be sure to post.

Please keep us updated with Hyper Card news. With Turbo Sims that expensive at ebay, this might be a good option!

Anyways, how much did you pay for one?

Everything works fine? Really? Calls, SMS and so on?

Post that review as soon as you can!

Is the process of getting this working close to the TurboSim one?

Yes everything works! The process is much easier. The hardest part is cutting your SIM card, but thanks to their lovely stencils that come with it, that isn’t very hard.

would this work the same with a T-Mo SIM card?

Well I haven’t used a T-Mobile SIM myself, it should work just fine. I’ve read of 1 person that said their T-Mobile worked.

Please, correct me if I’m wrong (I really don’t know much about this TurboSim stuff, only what I have read on forums), but with Turbo Sim there’s the option of re-programming the chip, isn’t it?

Does this one can be modified by the end-user?

Caio: go to ebat and search “dual sim cut” and look at those $5 sim-sized things. That’s what we are talking about; well not exactly, the one we are talking about are the SAME hardware, but with a different firmare (which is not upgradable for cost reasons) which make the two sims look like they are from AT&T. Yes, 2$ hardware + some quick firmware = 120$ device. Yes it’s a rip off, but unlike ISF you can have you today.

theBrave:
It’s way cheaper then buying a Turbo SIM off E-bay and it doesn’t involve opening the unit. For anyone that doesn’t feel comfortable breaking apart their iPhone themselves the going rate here in Toronto is $100-$200 for a hardware unlock service.

Just because the chip can’t be upgraded doesn’t mean that there won’t be software workarounds. I imagine we will see custom firmwares much like the Sony PSP scene.

Let’s not forget that if the iPhone dev team can hack it there will be a free software unlock one day, which would be wonderful and render this device useless. I would still consider it money well spent for being able to use my iPhone now.

(current rates on ebay for a Turbo SIM as of this comment’s posting date are $320 and up)

Yes, you are right, this is way cheaper then a Turbo Sim, so I’ll probably go with the Hyper Card stuff anyway…

Just to be sure, you didn’t have your iPhone hardware unlocked before, right?

And do edge and youtube work, or do you still need those activation processes? What about the problems restoring the iPhone with iTunes 7.4? You still need to jailbrake your iPhone to make it work, so maybe there’s the possibility that you get the phone bricked when perform a restore?

Sorry about all these questions, but finding reliable information out there is kinda hard…

Almost forgot: how is the item shipped? In a box, envelope …? Do they declare the cost of the product? I mean, here in Brazil we have a strong customs policy, so if the $120 price is printed on the outside of it, I’ll be charged huge rates!

My phone was not hardware unlocked. Yes they put the value on the package which happens to be an envelope. Do not use itunes 7.4 for activation or restoring you can however update to it after you have run the activation hack.

Thanks for all that info…I’m really considering buying one. Still, I haven’t found yet the difference between that Parker guy PSS Sim Kit and the one from hyper-card.com!

Did they need your IMEI Or IMSI number of your phone/SimCard?

This is cool, I mean, Parker told me $170, while hyper-card.com said they would sell me one for $130 with all shipping charges included. Big much of a difference, I guess…

Again, thanks for the all info!

I meant there is no difference in the hardware, the companies are partners.

@alias420:

hi!

I’m a little bit confused now: do i need to hardware unlock the iphone (like gehot) before apply the turbo sim method?

and what’s the deal with the hyper card? it’s only the dual card adapter, right?
or is there something more included to unlock the iphone?

thx alot!

@alias420:

i just bought my hyper-card from taiwan… will i follow the same procedure as for the turbo sim? cause i believe we need to download 2 files from bladox (which designed the turbo sim), i think they are called “applesaft-0.92.tar.gz” and “turbo-cable-utils-iPhone-0.7.0-rev1.tar.gz”… will those drivers work the same for the hypercard? (i was thinking hypercard have their own software versions for this…
