Downgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2

Posted by greg

If somehow you managed to upgrade your phone, there’s still hope… You can downgrade back to 1.0.2 allowing for jailbreak and activation; however, software SIM unlocking will not work, I repeat, will not work.

Included with the 1.1.1 update is a new version of the modem firmware — 04.01.13_G. This is currently being analyzed and hopefully patched to permit the use of a software unlock again.

If you used a TurboSIM or HyperSIM to unlock without patching the baseband firmware, you should actually be good to go. Otherwise, you can still enjoy Wi-Fi, iPod, and other various 3rd party apps.

Downgrade to 1.0.2 instructions:

  1. First, download the iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw. On a Mac, do not unzip the file, iTunes will do this for you in step 4.
  2. Then connect phone to dock, and hold down home button and power button for about 10 seconds. It doesn’t matter if the phone turns off before the end of the 10 secs, just keep holding the button.
  3. Now release the power button but continue holding the home button. After about 10 seconds the computer will detect the iPhone in restore mode, and iTunes should tell that the phone needs to be restored.
  4. Hold down SHIFT key (Windows) or Option/ALT-key (Mac) when clicking the Restore button, and select the file you downloaded previously.
  5. Let the restore complete and ignore the error at the end.
  6. Now your phone should show the “Connect to iTunes” screen with the yellow triangle.
  7. Run AppTap to jailbreak your phone — it will restore it to a working 1.0.2 firmware it even though you get errors.
  8. Run AppTap again to actually install the installer.app
  9. AT&T Users: Reset your iPhone before you start using your phone again. Failure to do so may result in you being charged for your “free services.”

Ok so I successfully downgraded back down to Version 1.0.2 but I still can’t make any phone calls. It just continues to give the “Incorrect SIM” screen but the sim is the original sim that came with the iPhone. And it was previously activated with At&t and worked fine. Someone please help l, I’m missing all my phone calls and crap.

Hi I accidentally upgraded firmware to 1.1.1 and damaged the IMEI (0049..) and tried to get back to 1.0.2 through restore. I am able to go to Activitate iphone through AppTapp installer and it says send file failed after that. Moreover my iphone gives a error message Incorrect SIM though it is the same SIM that came with the phone. Any help
Thanks

hello Aaron..

Well for putting NES roms you have to jailbreak your iphone first by useing ibrickr which i assume is has allready been done, because ur phone is unlocked just like you said…

Just install NES using ibrickr and add your NES roms on the directory that you are given when u first start “NES”….

Anywhay.. as for your sim contacts i had the same problem.. what did i do ? lol i just moved all my contacts to my pc using my nokia pc suite (use the corresponding pc software for your phone) .. then imported them on outlook and then synchronised outlook with itunes.. its not as complicated as it sounds..

Oh and btw.. wrong place to post your question..

people who bought an unlocked (v.1.0.2) iphone with no “original” AT&T card and bricked it through updating (to 1.1.1): downgrading (jailbreaking)does not seem to work. Following the instructions at http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php?title=Jailbreak_1.1.1:
” iTunes should now reactivate your iPhone like a nice friend if you have a valid iTunes-activated AT&T SIM. If not, you’ll have to get creative and figure out how to do it yourself.”

Hi people, i need to ask you guys a favour. My friend is in NY at the moment and i’m asking him to buy me an iphone and get it unlocked as the people here in singapore are selling it at ridiculous prices (US$1000). The problem is, my friend’s not a native New Yorker and doesnt know where to get the iphone unlocked. Can anyone help me out here and point me in the right direction. please?
