Update: 1.1.3 in action!
Thanks Vicecity55.
Looks like it’s real after all, or as Natetrue says, someone put a lot of effort into this. Early December we reported the possibility of iPhone system software 1.1.3. Today Gizmodo shares video proof and supposed features:
The update of course re-locks the baseband and wipes clean any 3rd party apps/games. Previous activation and jailbreak methods will no longer work either. No actual release date is set.

Comments (13)Your iPhone just got cooler. From developer ZodTTD, whom you may recognize from such iPhone emulator ports as gpSPhone, is psx4iphone.
“psx4iphone” is the first unofficial PlayStation 1 (PSX/PSOne) emulator for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s based on portions of psx4all by Unai, Chui, Tinnus, and ZodTTD.
ZodTTD states, “…it has a good compatibility rate and features save states and a dynarec for added performance.” You will however require the PlayStation BIOS — “scph1001.bin”. Due to legality reasons we cannot supply you with that; be resourceful, use your Google skills.
Copy roms (.ISO, .IMG, .BIN, .Z, .ZNX disc images) to /var/root/Media/ROMs/PSX. Enjoy!
psx4iphone is available now via Installer.app. Or you may grab it from us, iPhone Hacks. Also be sure to visit the source link for more information — donation details, frequently asked questions, joining the beta testers club, etc…

Comments (22)Well I couldn’t word it any better myself… So here’s what Earle Davies has to say about their most recent update to the [new] peer-to-peer online iPhone arcade:
From the people who brought you the amazing p2p online game of battleship, comes the newest game in the lineup: tic-tac-toe. If you don’t have time to play the long game of battleship, playing a quick game of tic-tac-toe vs. a live person can pass the time. Hop on over to http://www.ifonearcade.com and checkout the newly redesigned battleship and newly created tic-tac-toe. Stat tracking for registered members and more features including an in-game chat are included. If you could please add this new tic-tac-toe and update the battleship link that would be awesome!
Absolutely brilliant! Don’t hesitate. Browse over to ifonearcade.com (via Mobile Safari) and start making a name for yourself. Games are compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch. If you end up against GregCube, it means your ass is grass, sucker.
Comments (2)Another developer beats Apple to the punch. Although it’s not perfected yet, Drunknbass’ video recording app demonstrates potential dopeness.
Currently lacking a user interface and only supporting 5 second recordings at 10 frames-per-second (fps), it’s said the final version will record unlimited length videos at 15 to 30+ fps.

Comments (6)Listen to your entire music library directly from your iPhone with Simplify Media Mobile — a native client-side application for the Apple iPhone/iTouch. Alongside that you’ll require the server; that’s running under both Windows and Mac.
The coolest feature — connect up to 30 friends and listen to their tunes as well. Simplify Media supports MP3, AAC, WMA, and Apple Lossless files. Everything is streamed in a secure and encrypted fashion. Like the iTunes WiFi Store it’s working over Wi-Fi only; perhaps we’ll see an EDGE-supported version in the future.
The video demonstration:
Considering this is their first version, it obviously lacks a few features:
Download Simplify Media Mobile via Installer.app. It’s under the Multimedia category. Visit the source link for the Windows and/or Mac side of things.

Comments (2)Avid iPhoners and iPhonerettes should check out these worthy of mentioning apps; that’s to say, if you haven’t installed or heard about them already. Most are available via Installer.app or just follow the individual source links.
In no particular order, we have:
SMSD — Lets you delete or forward individual SMS messages
code.google.com/p/iphone-smsd
MMS — Name says it all
add http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml to Installer.app sources
modmyifone.com
Make It Mine — Lets you set anything as your ‘carrier’ easily
Erica Sadun is awesome
ScreenShot — Easily capture screenshots
robota.nl
Sysinfo — Again, name says it all
robota.nl
Taskbar Notifier — Add status bar icons for unread SMS or email
code.google.com/p/taskbar-notifier
Enjoy!
Thanks for compiling this list Leif.
Comments (1)As early as this weekend it is quite possible we’ll be busting apart a new iPhone software update — that’s according to CNET France.
System software 1.1.3 is said to feature disk mode, for storing general data on the device’s memory, and will also introduce a voice recording option. Big whoop by the sounds of it… These two features are already available by means of 3rd party developers.
Upgrading will no doubt re-lock your phone and wipe out any unauthorized apps/games. Again, I recommend sticking with 1.1.1.

Comments (5)The highly talented iPhone Dev Team — the crew responsible for this improved 1.1.2 jailbreak — have released a “better” method to aid in freeing your iPhone. Better than this one; that is. Although the procedure has been polished, it doesn’t necessarily rid the complication factor. You still require some technical know-how and patience. Personally, I recommend sticking with 1.1.1.

Comments (7)Interesting article posted over at gizmodo… It appears the iPhone Dev Team may be releasing anySIM’s source code — the free iPhone software unlocking solution. They’re hoping a community-style effort will aid in faster developments & quality software whenever Apple decides to pull some fancy footwork.
Well, all the core members of the team are OK with Open Sourcing it. Now we are checking to see if the community likes the idea and see if we can grow support for it. We want to be sure quality software, however, not have a bin-patch-mania of pieces of our hard work by other people. We are sure that Open Source people will submit their stuff to the tree so the software gets better.
It open a lot of possibilities for the future and anyone will be able to participate with quality code.
