Phew, it’s safe to update now. Zibri has released ZiPhone version 2.5.
Actually, perform a restore to 1.1.4 — don’t update. Nullriver’s Installer keeps a cache of installed apps; you will encounter problems upgrading straight to iPhone system version 1.1.4. So play it safe, do the restore — connect USB, hold the home button and sleep/power for a few seconds, click “Restore” in iTunes.
Get down. Kudos Zibri, and everyone else who made this possible.

Comments (3)Well, in terms of Apple taking reprisals, the 1.1.4 update certainly doesn’t do much. In fact, 1.1.4 unlock methods are already circulating the Internet, while previously discovered jail break techniques continue to work just fine.
New for Mac OS X users — The Operator’s iNdependence v1.4 beta 5 — adding full support for iPhone system software 1.1.4.
iNdependence v1.4 beta 5 changelog:
And everyone should know this, a message from The Operator –
…ok, now I’m taking this whole media thing seriously. I just heard that www.iphoneunlockuk.com is basically selling my software. They essentially give you a small wrapper program which downloads iNdependence, and charge money for doing that. And they were even promoted on UK media shows! I urge people (both media and otherwise) to combat this scammery by telling everyone where to get iNdependence and that it’s free.

Comments (0)Update: Maybe it’s not so bad after all… Several reports indicate ZiPhone should successfully jailbreak v1.1.4; however, it will not (?) bypass activation. Unlocked iPhone users should not upgrade — wait until ZiPhone is thoroughly checked and possibly patched for the latest update.
Ah, ha! Apple has just released iPhone system software 1.1.4; it’s available now via iTunes update. If your iPhone is hacked in any way — unlocked, jail broken, you name it — don’t update. We recommend you wait.

1.1.4 update:
This version of the software includes bug fixes and supersedes all previous versions.
…Yeah, I bet. Stay tuned for more info.

Comments (11)No hacks lately, I guess its all been said and done. Now we wait for Apple — they’re probably preparing for retaliation right now. And with the iPhone SDK not likely to meet its February release date, who knows…
In the meantime, if you’re still experiencing difficulties activating, jailbreaking, and/or unlocking your iPhone — watch this:
Comments (5)Update: Hitting more frequent than quick pick lotto… ZiPhone v2.3 is out! Details in the README.
Update: 2.2 bug fix release… Grab it below.
Update: Another day, another ZiPhone release — version 2.1 comin’ in hot… Changes include:
Update: I should mention ZiPhone v2.0 repaired the iPhone mentioned in this post; the one unable to receive calls. Solid app, cheers.
Update: ZiPhone 2.0 is out now. Quoting Zibri, “…the command line version, you will find a new option ‘-b’ be very careful with that! I take no responsibility if you brick your phone! ZiPhone -b will downgrade bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9, flash 4.03.13_G baseband version and unlock it (in one shot!).”
Experiencing difficulties with previous activation, jailbreak, and unlock methods? No longer! Forget all that tedious nonsense and enter Zibri’s ZiPhone. For real, it doesn’t get any easier than this…
Bypass activation and jailbreak any iPhone OS version. Unlock whatever baseband on boot loader 3.9 and 4.6 — that means 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 OOTB (out-of-the-box) also work! Just connect your phone via USB and run the app. It’s mentioned ZiPhone will revive many “dead” basebands too; so if you messed up a previous attempt, this will likely solve that issue.
Both Windows and Mac versions available.
Kudos to everyone involved making this possible.

Comments (83)Geohot has done did it again with a complete software unlock for out-of-the-box iPhone’s running 1.1.2/1.1.3.
Instructions are provided within the RAR archive. The procedure involves downgrading back to system software 1.0.2; however, Geohot notes that other versions may work. See here for [older] downgrade instructions. Put your phone into DFU mode to allow the software restore/downgrade; I use iNdependence for that.
If you encounter problems or have any questions — please search or ask in our forums.
Visit the source link for Geohot’s technical explanation in achieving this once said to be impossible unlock.

Comments (32)Wait! Before you do anything — if you opened that shiny new, well designed iPhone box and 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 was already installed, you’re SOL — this WILL NOT work.
AnySIM 1.3 unlocks an iPhone with baseband version 04.03.13_G and boot loader v3.9. Find your baseband version under Settings -> General -> About, and scroll down to “Modem Firmware.” Sadly, any iPhone shipped with 1.1.2 or later is running boot loader v4.6.
If you’d like to update the modem firmware on your “soft-updated” jail broken 1.1.3 iPhone, and you truly know what you’re doing; here’s how:
cd /basebandchmod 0755 *./ieraser./bbupdater -f ICE04.03.13_G.fls -e ICE04.03.13_G.eepbbupdater -v (confirm it took)Download: anySIM 1.3
