anySIM 1.3 Released — Unlocks System Software 1.1.3

Posted by greg

Wait! Before you do anything — if you opened that shiny new, well designed iPhone box and 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 was already installed, you’re SOL — this WILL NOT work.

AnySIM 1.3 unlocks an iPhone with baseband version 04.03.13_G and boot loader v3.9. Find your baseband version under Settings -> General -> About, and scroll down to “Modem Firmware.” Sadly, any iPhone shipped with 1.1.2 or later is running boot loader v4.6.

If you’d like to update the modem firmware on your “soft-updated” jail broken 1.1.3 iPhone, and you truly know what you’re doing; here’s how:

  1. Download these: bbupdater, iEraser, the secpack, and the modem firmware (ICE04.03.13_G.fls / ICE04.03.13_G.eep)
  2. Extract these archives and copy the files to a directory on your iPhone; i.e.) /baseband
  3. Install Ulctl and Term-vt100 via Installer.app
  4. Launch Ulctl and unload “com.apple.CommCenter”
  5. Launch Term-vt100 and type the following:
    • cd /baseband
    • chmod 0755 *
    • ./ieraser
    • ./bbupdater -f ICE04.03.13_G.fls -e ICE04.03.13_G.eep
    • bbupdater -v (confirm it took)
  6. Restart your iPhone
  7. If all went well, your iPhone should be running 4.03_13_G. If not — ask or search our forums for assistance.
  8. Proceed with anySIM 1.3. Note: Airplane Mode should be enabled prior to unlocking.

Don’t buy the new iPhone thinking you’ll be able to unlock it with this…until they are able to unlock the 4.6 bootloader the new iphones will still be useless….hopefully 1.1.4 will come out soon and shed some light on unlocking the 4.6 bootloader

Well this is very good news. The only issue preventing me from choosing to update is the fact that when I last tried it (now back on JB 1.1.2), YouTube wasn’t activated - and there doesn’t seem to be any solution yet for it. If anyone knows how to get YouTube to work on 1.1.3, do let me know.

Also, since this means you will be running the correct baseband version, does it mean the official Maps Locate Me function will now work ?

Well thats brilliant !

All we need now is a way to simplify jailbreaking for 1.1.3 like we have for 1.1.1 - by using a website such as http://jailbreakme.com .

I’ve tried the ‘ Official 1.1.3 upgrade ‘ package about three times and it only worked once. One of the times my calculator.app went missing from the SpringBoard ?!

Also, I couldn’t find the cleanup package in installer that removes the 300MB image and other temporary jailbreaking files…

The community basically needs a way to jailbreak 1.1.3 when upgraded officially with iTunes - without the need to downgrade and jailbreak to 1.1.1 –> 1.1.2 –> 1.1.3. Its a very time-consuming process at the moment. But I still congratulate the expertise of these ‘ iPhone Hackers ‘ as they’re called… Well done people !! :D
