Apple has officially launched their iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK). Browse over to developer.apple.com/iphone/program to sign up —
Standard Program $99
The Standard Program is for developers who are creating free and commercial applications for iPhone and iPod touch.
Enterprise Program $299
The Enterprise Program is for developers who are creating proprietary, in-house applications for iPhone and iPod touch.
You’ll require an Intel-based Mac with Leopard and Xcode installed. Do note the SDK itself does not cost any money; however, getting your application approved for distribution under whatever program will set ya back.
Accessing the developer site seems a little iffy per the moment. Try again later should problems persist.

$99 ??? wtf?
well i am thinking that many developers that are going to be releasing free apps are going to be looking for donations so if that developer has supporter then 99 bucks shouldn’t be a problem
Jesus f*ck. $99 for writting community apps. this sure pisses me off.. at least at m$ they have the balls to encourage their dev people.
What the hell is Apple upto lately.
For all you people saying “wtf 99$?!?!??!?” no
the sdk is free. therefor writing applications are free.
but to have your app on the itunes App Store costs 99$ a year.
guys its not really all that bad. Think about how much it costs for hosting the server for the installer app. its the same thing but more reliable and more people will download your app. so quit complaining, be happy that the free sdk is out and the soon-to-be out firmware 2.0 is comin out by the end of june.
btw no one said anything about flash.

wow people depend on flash way to much, like it has so many bugs yet everyone uses it… and if you have seen what apps they made within a two week period then you wouldn’t say that noodles plus edge is slow so either ways its probably gonna be useless to have flash cause its going to choke like a bitch unless of course you have wifi every where you go
the new firmware 2.0 + the time the developers have to create apps until june + what they succeeded in doing in just two weeks = a high demand of the iPhone this summer. i just hope the price won’t grow any more
Plus if you do pay the 99$
and you make a bitchin app at a descent price, apple does a deal were you get 70% profit
now if that isnt easy money i dont know what is
