The iPhone 3G will spark an entirely new way of purchasing iPhones and unlocking them. Apple will now be requiring you to activate your 3G iPhone in store and sign up a contract with AT&T (O2 in the UK) as of July 11th if you want to get the new low prices. Fortunately there will be an option to buy the iPhone for a pre-paid plan which won’t lock you into a contract with AT&T, the price of this iPhone has yet to be released. It appears unlockers will now have to pay a premium to unlock their phones.

I can’t remember 100%, so don’t hold me to this, but i think i remember seeing somewhere that the $199 price is $200 off the “premium” price of an iPhone, so i think the 8GB will still be $399….and if Firmware 2.0 is gonna be released early July for 1st Gen iPhone users, then that will give a little lead time to jail-break 2.0, as i said in a previous post, i give 2.0 firmware a week or less before it’s jail-broken…..
Any predictions on the unlock date?
I went into an apple store and they told me you can buy the iphone there but you have to register it through itunes in order to (tie) it you at&t number.
You can buy the iphone at an istore i think this is just a rumor.
But, are they gonna sell them on Apple.com?
not true justa a rumor
