Progress Being Made For Flash Support On The iPhone

Posted by Alias420

Adobe claims to have a working version of their Flash player for the iPhone development emulator. Remember this Flash player is only for the “iPhone Emulator” which means it’s running on a computer, they recognize more work will be required to ensure functionality on the iPhone device itself.

During Adobe’s Qtr End 5/30/08 Earnings Call which took place on June 16, 2008 5:00 pm ET. Shantanu Narayen Adobe’s President and Chief Executive Officer was quoted answering the question; “…just to follow-up was on the Apple iPhone 3G — any update on Flash support within that device?”

With respect to the iPhone, we are working on it. We have a version that’s working on the emulation. This is still on the computer and you know, we have to continue to move it from a test environment onto the device and continue to make it work. So we are pleased with the internal progress that we’ve made to date.

Sounds promising, as long as it’s some kind of working flash like lite for other mobiles…

Even if they get a perfect working version on the iPhone it’s still going to be up to Apple how it’s deployed :(
