It’s not that simple.
Downgrading the firmware doesn’t downgrade the baseband if it’s newer 04.05.04.
I got burned with this, but managed to downgrade with these instructions here:

1. You need to erase baseband 04.05.04_G

ive my iphone 2.0v never downgrade i just wondering if this works whit mine or it just for the ones who hanked and them get kinda fuc« up in the version 2.0?

if u can downgrade the 2G iPhone by using programs like this, is the hardware really that different in the 3G to not let us downgrade it until the firmware is unlocked?

Ummm….upgraded to new firmware…phone working fine out side of sporadic glitches(Apps starting unexpectedly etc.)…but a lotta peeved that lost all my apps……not my fault they wanted to suck the money cow teat……..25 + dollars for a phone app…..gimme a break

what do you mean by newer phone? Do you mean the 3G iphone?

As I have the original iphone, please tell me how do I know that I need to downgrade the baseband and how exactly the steps I can check it?

may I suggest that the method listed here is confusing and very hard to understand and follow by its wording.

As I am trying to unlock my phone after a re-lock with the 2.0 update, it still would not work and unlock.
I install itune 7.6.2 and iphone firmware v1.1.4. And then took all the following steps

“Just turn off the phone plug it into your computer then press and hold both the power and home buttons for 10 sec, it will beep you can let go of the power but keep holding the home button down until iTunes has discovered the phone in restore mode.”

After this, it showed a messenge that I need to install itune 7.7.
I would be greatly appreciated if someone can provide any assistence to get my phone working again!

I don’t get your 7.7 is bringing problems I’m running 7.7 and I’ve connected my iPhone many times and still running perfect I’m running running 1.1.4 on the 2g iPhone

As I was saying, I went through the method provided by the Alias420 because my phone was relocked after trying to download ‘update 2.0′ on my unlock phone. One of the thing I have to do is re-install Itune 7.6.2. But after I did that and work through the steps, right after there’s a beep and I let go the power button, there’s a messenge dialog showing that I need to install itune 7.7 in order for iphone to work.
Did anyone ever get this after they get to this point? Is there a solution for this?
Please let me know for I’ve been trying all this time to unlock the phone!

I have tried this method and other methods I have found but have had no luck, I have 2 iphones that have been upgraded to 2.0 but neither one is a activated iphone I have upgraded both to a 3g, but I want to downgrade these so I can use ZIphone to hack for use later.

Ok.. i got my phone working and heres how i did it, your going to need a copy of the 7.6.2 itunes installer, the 1.1.4 firmware, and Natetrue’s Ibrickr program (all you can download from this site)
1. Uninstall itunes 7.7 if you have not already
2. Reinstall using the 7.6.2 (i also got an error about the itunes library file.. if you get that too just make a copy if you want and delete it out of you music folder for now)
3. once 7.6.2 is installed try to restore, you should get an error saying to update to the newest version
4. heres where ibrickr comes into play, Plug in your iphone and open ibrickr
5. ibrickr should say your phone is in recovery mode and gives you an option to downgrade to 1.0.2 firmware, Click on this and follow his instructions on the downgrade (go into itunes while your phone is connected, hold shift and click the restore button)
6. this should bring you to locate a restore file (.ipsw) locate and open your copy of firmware version 1.1.4
7. click open and itunes should begin with the restore

so this worked for me.. but i dunno how well it will work for everyone else, dont see any reason why it wouldnt but you never know, my phone was doing some funky things after i tried to go to 2.0 anyone

Hi Arob, I went through Alias420’s method and it wasn’t lay it all out completely. So I have downgrade itune 7.6.2 from 7.7 (I got the same error too that the library was made from newer version also, and the itune did not open), and I have the firmware 1.1.4. As I went through the steps, it got the same messenge that the iphone can not be use until upgrade to 7.7. I didn’t even know about that ibrickr because it didn’t mention on Alias420’s blog.
I can’t wait to try it out now and get it unlock!
By the way, the Natetrue’s Ibrickr program is in the “iphone downloads” section of this website? Is it the one call “ibrickr 1.1.3 Jailbreak Edition”?

after upgrade to 2.0 and all the usefull links the phone is working. just edge is gone! How can I get edge back without downgrading?

Hey I tried to upgrade to 2.0, and ran into problems. I then downgraded to 1.1.4 and jail broke and unlocked it. Everything went as usual, but now there is no carrier icon on my phone and I cannot make or receive calls. I called apple and they told me it sounds like its not activated so i tried to activate it with ziphone and it didn’t work. Please help me fix my phone.

Ive done everything too. im in the same boat as JACk. im getting pissed….sooo does that mean i have to wait til they release an unlock software hack thingy ?? AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I am totally feed up with this mess. After I try all this method, and it still wouldn’t do anything. Don’t you people have something that works???

I own a 16Gb iPhone running v1.14.
I unlocked it for use here in South Africa but can not get EDGE to work. I have checked with my network that the SIM I use is EDGE or rather DATA enabled. I have entered the APN name on the phone and turned on DATA ROAMING in the settings aplet…………..
what more do I have to do to get it to work?
