Mocha VNC Lite 1.0 for iPhone/iTouch

Posted by Leif Erikson

If you’re on firmware 2.0 and have been looking for a way to access your PC or Mac via a VNC server then look no further! Mocha VNC Lite a free, thats right, a free application in the App Store in firmware 2.0 or iTunes gives you the ability to access your PC or Mac just like you were sitting right in front of your computer — just on a smaller screen.

Developer description:

Mocha VNC provides access to a VNC Server. Using your iPhone, you can connect to a Windows PC or Mac OS X and see the files, programs, and resources exactly as you would if you were sitting at your desk, just on a smaller screen.

Features:

  • Standard VNC protocol with encrypted password signon
  • 8 and 32 bit color modes
  • Server screen resolution up to 1680×1200
  • Local Mouse support
  • Zoom and scroll as the Safari browser
  • Landscape mode
  • Can handle 6 different Host configurations
  • Has been tested with RealVNC, TightVNC, UltrVNC on Windows, and Apple Remote Management, which is included with the Mac OS X.

Lite Version Compared to the Lite version the full version has:

  • Another cool key board
  • Support for right mouse button
  • Macro support
  • Ctrl+alt+del key. Needed if using Win 200x as a VNC Server

If you’re more interested in the full version than in the lite version (which is free) then you might have to wait some time, it’s getting reviewed by Apple to be put in the App Store. The full version will be $5.99 USD

Thanks Ecko!

2 screens? Your iPhone only has one screen and this app is for remote access. 1680×1200 is fine for the iPhone’s widescreen and you can use higher resolutions when you get home and are actually using 2 screens.

I remote access my dual monitor box on different resolutions all the time.
