The ever popular iPhone Dev Team has released their XPWN 0.3 Sources to the public. This is the firmware 2.0 version of their cross-platform jailbreaking library/command-line utility.

We’ve tested it on Linux, Windows XP, and Windows Vista for both the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G thus far, but since it uses the same FirmwareBundles files as PwnageTool, and we know those work for the iPod touch, there ought not be any problems.

The real significance of this to people who don’t know how to use the command line, is that others can now begin creation of easy to use one click solutions for the iPhone 2.0 on any platform they wish.
iUnlocked.org had this comment on the release:

This release means that we at iunlocked.org will begin work on writing a GUI wrapper for the Windows Platform to perform the operations needed to create PWNED ipsw restore files.

I’m sure we’ll have plenty of software to report on in the next few weeks so make sure to check back!
