Not to be outdone by Zibri the iPhone Dev Team have released their Windows beta version of the ‘QuickPwn’ project. Expect a Mac version shortly. QuickPwn is a new way of Pwning your iPhone & iPhone 3G without requiring building your ipsw file and restoring the iPhone through iTunes. If you already have a the latest 2.0.1 factory firmware on your phone this will jailbreak it rapidly. Currently this tool is only compatible with 2.0.1 but this will be expanded to older firmwares in the future.

Currently QuickPwn requires your device to be running version 2.0.1 of the iPhone/iPod firmware. This requirement will change in a subsequent release.

Remember that although this is a development release, jailbreaking only deals with the S5L (application processor) side of the device, so it’s impossible for this to permanently damage your device.

Of course we have this tool freely available in ‘Utilities’->’Windows’ in the iPhone Downloads section. Alternately you can use this direct link: Download QuickPwn Beta

  13. [...] It’s also been reported that there’s been some trouble with the Windows Beta of QuickPwn – it had something to do with 64-bit Windows versions. It should now be compatible with all versions of Windows. For those who don’t know what QuickPwn is, here’s the descriptions from the developers when the first version was released: [...]

  14. Ian says:

I have just installed quickpwn and everything works great except I cant recieve or make calls.

  15. wolframinn says:

    for those with no service!!!

As far as I read most of the forums, if you are using an iPhone 2g with a fake imei number (unlocked) new firmware updates the baseband and restores the original imei. In other words cancels your unlock. So before upgrading to 2.1 find the 2.1 firmware which does not upgrade the baseband. I found that version on a Turkish forum page. If I can find it again I will give the link here. But no promises it would be good if you search the Internet for it.
