Mac users don’t feel left out by the release of WinPwn 2.5 Beta. The iPhone Dev Team has released the brand new QuickPwn 1.0 for Mac OSX. Unlock and Jailbreak 1rst generation iPhone 2G/EDGE 2.0.2 & Jailbreak iPhone 3G 2.0.2 in Apple Mac OS X. Unlike it’s cousin QuickPwn RC3 for Windows, this Mac version of QuickPwn only works with iPhone 2.0.2

QuickPwn is not a replacement for PwnageTool, they are different tools and provide different features, QuickPwn is for quickly pwning a device, whereas PwnageTool is designed to custom build and tailor the ipsw production process, both tools will be actively developed in the future.

To use QuickPwn 1.0 Mac OS X your device should be running 2.0.2, if it isn’t then you can upgrade it to 2.0.2 using iTunes and then use the QuickPwn tool, we repeat, it’ll only work on version 2.0.2 of the iPhone or iPod touch firmware.

If you don’t want specific things to happen such as baseband updates then PwnageTool should be used to create a custom .ipsw with your specifics.

Grab it here from our iPhone Downloads section under ‘iPhone Utilities’ :: ‘Mac’ or just follow this direct link QuickPwn 1.0 Mac Download

Just tried it, didn’t seem to do anything, so I tried again with the custom boot and restore screens… nothing… it doesn’t appear to have done anything at all.

How do I use iTunes to burn the custom firmware, perhaps that is my issue?

It’s very minimal. It sticks you with the Pineapple. Really, who wants that? Mac users should have better. The iPhone is a Mac. Also, too much hocus pocus on the Dev Team blog. The download link provided there is ridiculous. When I posted this URL, they removed it. The BitTorrent download is impossible on this Mac, with any browser.

Also, they promised a direct link in 12 hours. It still isn’t there after at least 24 hours, probably more. They’ll say it’s on their server. Really? So where is that? Anybody know?

Too much hocus pocus…

I tried it a couple of times and both with no success. It freezes at the pineapple logo. I had to use PrnTool do to the pwning. Here’s a link to a good tutorial.
