If you’re one of those people who like having a full size keyboard on devices with tiny hard to use virtual keyboards? Or if you like the feeling of a full size physical keyboard and hate the feeling of a virtual keyboard. One word for you, bluesn0w. Bluesn0w’s developer team, iBluetooth Team, were successful demonstrating a “pwned” bluetooth chipset, allowing anyone to write/implement a fully functional Bluetooth Stack that runs on your iPhone.

From ibluetoothproject.tk:

We have been working around the clock to update and patch the terminal release and prepare for a GUI release. GUI release will be donor only, at least at first

How to Install:

  1. Download Bluesn0w v1.1.1 from our iPhone Downloads section
  2. Using winSCP or CyberDuck – ssh into your iPhone and copy bluesn0w-1.1.1 to /var/root/
  3. Rename it to just bluesn0w
  4. Turn off WiFi, stock Bluetooth and everything from the settings app
  5. Move away from all microwaves
  6. On your iPhone, go to MobileTerminal and type su followed by enter, and type your root password (default is alpine)
  7. Type cd /var/root
  8. Type chmod 777 bluesn0w
  9. Type ./bluesn0w
  10. Enjoy!

Download Bluesn0w v1.1.1

This is good news! And what will really get my heart beating quickly will be for someone to post a short video clip of a bluetooth keyboard, say the Apple one, being used with an iPhone.

I did steps 6 through 8 while connected over wifi using ssh as root (hence no su required). (Bluetooth is off, no microwaves around, but wifi is on).

Seems to execute, but does not connect to my BT head set.
When I do a ps -x there is not Bluesn0w process running.
Any idea how to connect to the available blue tooth devices. ?

Here is an execution trace.

Jim

JimPhone:~ root# ./bluesn0w
————- bluesn0w-1.1.0 ————-
initialising… done!
Seaching for devices…

What is the next step? I did all steps succesfully, but still can’t have music over BT on iPhone.

So, now there’s a GUI version that installs easily from CYDIA without SSH and Terminal work. It’s called “SweetTooth” — Sweet.

Also–from what I read, this is still just a proof of concept app. They haven’t added any usable functions yet (file sharing, keyboards, headsets…). Soon, I hope…

This is a bit wierd… I have never gotten my BT to work on my jailbroaken iPhone 3g and wasnt really that annoyed about it til i heard that there is gonna be support for the stereo-headset-music streaming-thing and i started looking for some answers and then i stumbled across this! And of course this worked right of the bat!! I found my computers BT and my girlfriends cellphone, but i cant seem to activate BT via the settings menu… Does any one have any idea what the hell is going on here?

Cheers!!

/A.

Hi,

I went through the process and it worked fine. What on earth do I do now to get it to work with a Bluetooth keyboard?

Thanks.
