There’s been speculation that an iPhone Nano will be released sooner or later since the first generation iPhone released. Digitimes highlights a report from the Economic Daily News that two chip manufactures, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) will likely land orders for Apple’s low-cost entry-level iPhone nano.

According the the paper, the chip orders may come in March and the launch of Apple’s iPhone nano is expected to take place in June this year at the earliest.

However, American Technology Research analyst Brian Marshall believes the iPhone Nano (if ever released) will not be initially launched in the United States. Brian Marshall states the iPhone Nano hasn’t hit the AT&T testing lab for testing so US consumers may have to wait indefinitely. Marshall also believes China may be the ideal place to initially release the iPhone Nano.

“Obviously, the best-case scenario here would be a China launch (~600mil+ wireless subscribers total in the country), but we have no definitive knowledge of this and are working on identifying the local of launch and other pertinent details,” he said.

I wonder if it’ll have 2009 specs, or just the same old crap the original iPhone had.

‘Apple’s low-cost entry-level iPhone nano’

i assume it would have stuff missing from the iphone 3g?
i mean in Australia nano is entry level, classic is middle class and ipod touch/iphone is upper class.

now if we apply that to this situation iphone is upper class, nano would be lower class? so im assuming something would be missing.
maybe not touch screen? smaller memory? who knows but im taking stabs in the dark

i would rather then focus more on accesories and software (apps) for the iphone 3G then release another phone….WORK WITH WHAT YOU JUST RELEASED APPLE!!

maybe they will have a low-end iphone 3g 8gb and a high end iphone 3g 16gb perhaps 32gb?

and a low end iphone nano 8gb and high end iphone nano 16gb

OR

iPhone 3G will only be 16gb
and iPhone Nano will be 8gb

or maybe it’ll just be a 4gb iPhone 3G (possibly without a camera?) for $100

That would make sense, who wants the 2mp camera anyway?
