Yay! iPhone Dev Team have released the long awaited iPhone 3G Unlock, ultrasn0w! Just like yellowsn0w, ultrasn0w unlocks your iPhone 3G.
How to install:
- Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
- Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
- Run Cydia or Icy
- Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
- Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
- Reboot your iPhone 3G
- T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
- Enjoy

Some serious kudos to the dev team. They are the heroes of our age.
Not to sound ungrateful, but I wish they hadn’t said anything about releasing it on the Friday of the 3GS. This took a long time to release, just like Redsn0w was released well after the 3.0 update that they’d say they’d release soon after. I’d rather not hear any predictions or ETA’s unless they’re accurate. Sorry Dev-Team, just don’t say something that isn’t true…like saying you’ll release something at one time, but actually release it 3-4 days later.

To the commentor complaining about “how long it took” for ultrasn0w to be released, you need to get a life. What have you EVEr contributed to the iPhone world?
Remember people, dev team works for free. They won’t even accept donations. Careful what you complain about or you just might find that source you depend on may be gone.

I remember before 3.0, the 3G phone didnt like 2.2.1 because of the baseband update, I’m guessing this no longer applies since it says to be on 3.0 BEFORE the ultrasn0w

i just updated to fw 3.0 and installed ultrasn0w..works perfect.
however, cydia keeps crashing on me. everytime i try to do anything inside cydia (like searching for an app) it crashes and returns to the home screen..
anybody having the same problem?
there shub b an update for cydia to work on 3.0, try rebooton phone couple times mate, took 2days for cydia to work right for me, hope this helps

8Gig 3G, updated to 3.0 firmware…
I jailbroke and unlocked with ultrasn0w, installed a different sim and it shows the new network but says please connect to itunes. I’m on fido in Canada and the sim I used was an att sim that is activated and works fine in the nokia phone I took it out of. it is a 3G sim card and it works here roaming on Rogers. Any ideas? anybody? When I put in the sim it shows rogers as the carrier, so it’s reading the sim ok.
Could it be because of the roaming issue?
its an easy fix uninstall ultrasn0w and then rejailbreak your phone with no sim card in it and it will hacktivate the phone for you. Do not restore the phone before you rejailbreak it. Its okay to jailbreak an already jailbroken iphone. Then after the rejailbreak just reinstall ultrasnow and turn off the phone reinsert the rogers sim card then turn phone back on

if you have a tmobile sim card in the new iphone 3g S, would you get 3g signal, and will the iphone still be as fast?

Is anyone having the same problems with MMS
I have USA Tmobile and I set all my setting for mms correctly ,but the one problem i have is that when i send a picture, it is perfectly clear and hight quality. But when someone sends me a picture I get it very blurry and low quality. Does anyone have a solution. Please Help!!!

jailbreaked successfully but i cant update cydia. keeps on saying operation timeout and something about “apt.saurik.com cached failure”. I dont know where i wenn wrong. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance :D
Re jail break with redsnow …. Don’t select icy … Icy is what’s causing that error
tried re-jailbreaking but to no avail. still the same messages appear. i tried restore on itunes. now it disabled my wifi. it greyed out the wifi button and says “no wifi”. its still on 3.0 after restore. did some research and found there were tons of people having the same problem as i do. anyone here have the same problem? and yeah after installing 3.0 my battery life was greatly reduced and there was some charging issue. this is really frustrating me.
Hey bob,
First you need to restore with itunes, but use the shift + click restore and select the 3.0 IPSW you downloaded from iphone-hacks.com
After it restores properly, use redsnow to jailbreak your iphone, but dont select ICY, just select cydia.
After that just add the repo in cydia for ultrasnow to unlock you phone.

i also tried DFU restore. still greyed out the wifi button. tried re-jailbreaking a hell lot of times and still nothing. ill be bringing it to apple today for them to look at it and possibly have it replaced. thanks anyway. :D
ok Bob , sorry it didnt work out for you, you more than likely have bad equipment. I am pretty sure you will get a new one…….Maybe a 3GS ..eh! lol
Make sure you retore it again before you take it to apple, you know just in case.

damn, my iPhone was bought from the US but its here in the philippines right now. apple center dude told me its possibly a hardware problem but they dont service iphones here. ill have to send it to where it was bought. i was also able to downgrade back to 2.2.1 from 3.0 but still no wifi fix. i guess im going to miss my phone for a while.
i wasn’t able to send my phone but to the US but for some reason my iphone fixed itself!!! ha! my wifi is back up and running again. i dont know how this happened but while i was opening virtual villagers 2 on my iphone it froze so i had to restart. took a minute or two to reboot then when i checked my settings, presto!! wifi button can be pressed again!
whether using Turbo sim will unlock 3G-S model ??? when will the unlock solution comes for 3G-S ?
I had issues wit battery life after i installed ultrasn0w now that i removed it from cydia thn my battery stayed long but thn i searched again to install ultrasn0w from repo666.ultrasn0w.com i dont find anything there but intead there is one from smart mobile but cant install it please help!!!!!

be careful not to use restore on itunes. that is how my wifi got screwed
Hello everbody! i have 3g iphone and updated by 3.0 fw and jailbroke using redsnow then, unlocked with ultrasnow. It works now my iphone works with any provider sim card without chip. But sometimes when people call me it says that my phone is turned off, or i have no network, and when i see my network status it’s fine full service and battery takes half day. Anyone have same problem? pls help.
I’ve had a similar problem with a 3g 16gb. I managed to unlock with ultrasn0w with my friends orange sim card. then about an hour later it couldn’t find the network and it was a limited network. anyone has this problem? Cheers

good job dev team have a question not sure if its equiment or what i got it to work for tmoblie but im have power issues after i install cydia any tipes on how to fix this or what cause my battary will last up to 8 hours and that with min useage
restore but choose setup as new phone. you’ll have to install everything again but it would be worth your time.
Thanks dev team for the hack! it found my tmobile service in a blink of an eye!!
