One of my good buddies has pointed out a potential critical exploit in the way the iPhone 3G S handles voice dialing. While voice dialing is a great feature, the way the iPhone 3G S handles this great feature is, well, not so great. If you have the voice dialing option turned on in the settings, and if for any reason you happen to loose your iPhone, the lucky person to find your iPhone can easily make tons of phone calls even if the iPhone is passcode protected. Might be asking yourself, how’s this possible? Well, we’ll tell you how:
All you have to do, really, is hold down the home button with the iPhone locked to bring up the voice dialing feature and tell it to dial whatever number you would like for it to dial. Now, some might call this a feature, just to make that quick call without unlocking the iPhone and bring up the voice dialing or phone application. Others, might consider this a bug, as a thief can bring up the voice dialing and try a bunch of guesses till he/she hits the jackpot.
If this issue bothers you, Apple has thankfully given you the option to turn off voice dialing in the settings. Unfortunately, the voice iPod control feature cannot be turned off with a flip of a switch and is always enabled, this means that a thief or anyone can pick up your locked iPhone and start playing songs and wear down your battery.
Thanks Ecko for the tip!

That title is misleading…
thought you were talking about jailbreaking…
Agreed. I was thinking what, already?! Anyway, god forbid they wear down you’re battery.
my apologies
