Some days ago we reported about GeoHot’s Blackra1n application. Well, GeoHot finally released blackra1n. I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if it would work strictly on the iPod Touch or if it will work on all devices and now that the program is released I can safely say it’ll work with all devices. Blackra1n also jailbreaks Apple’s latest iPhone OS 3.1.2 – So you can jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 with Blackra1n
Currently, blackra1n is for Windows only. Windows users have always been left out with PwnageTool being Mac only now us Mac users can suffer for a little while.
So, what is blackra1n? blackra1n is a 30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak. Even the ipt3, but the ipt3 is tethered. In order to boot it, just rerun blackra1n. As far as donations go, they are much appreciated, but not until after blackra1n works for you. I never ask for donations before the tool is released.
Warning 3g and 3gs unlockers, do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings. Also blackra1n doesn’t hacktivate.
Apparently it’s a 30 second jailbreak for all devices running iPhone OS 3.1.2.

this is not working to well for me on my iphone 3g ive heard of alot of reports saying that 3g users have the most trouble with this dunno why??
update nvm I got it but it just depends on luck with me on this program because one time it won’t work and other times it will which is just probably a stupid bug or something but hey can’t complain it did its job in the end ;-) also I love the new rock app then cydia or icy its pretty cool.

so just get the NEW release from blackra1n.com and have fun by making it finally rain! (just had to click that button :D – no adminrights – no dfu – nothing – it went really fine!)

i did it on my 3gs with 3.1.2 all went good,i was not jailbroke before this.alot of people put iphone in dfu mode not sure your supposed to because i didnt,i left phone on and clicked make it rain and it put iphone in dfu mode for me,then just sit back and wait.when done there will be a icon for blackra1n on iphone just click it and follow instructions.also im useing windows vista basic.
what does this jailbreak do
This was a little tricky to get working with Iphone 8gb 3g. Had to disable a few things.
1. open itunes with iphone connected to computer.
2. manually put iPhone in DFU mode
3. start task manager
4. click on process Tab
5. First right click on ipodservices.exe and select end process tree.
6. Second right click Itunes.exe and end process tree
7. Run blackra1n.exe
8. Wait for picture to load then wait about 10 seconds
9. Then press and hold just the power button till you see the little working circle near the bottom of the screen. It will reboot by its self my 3 iphone 3g’s took about 3 min to reboot on their own.

It took 5 seconds to JB my 3GS and it works perfect. I have installed Winterboard, Istallous, and all my craked IPS’s and they all work fine. Work on my Vista 32 laptop. Although I am having a lots of trouble trying to JB mi wife’s 3g. It simply don’t work. Im’ gonna try an XP machine and see.
if the phone is jailbroken already will this upgrade the firmware? Or can you even do that with a jailbroken?

So im REALLY new to this iPhone hacking stuff. I have been doing some research, and just have a quick question. Will this app alow me to have full access to ALL the jailbreaking features, but just lock me into the carrier that sold me the phone.
If im ok with being locked into the carrier, will this app do me perfectly?
if you are ok with being locked to your official carrier, then YES, this will do what you want.

i was on a jailbroken iphone 3g 3.0.1. all i did was told itunes to restore to factory settings. once complete i allowed it to restore from the backup it just made. then i used blackra1n and everything worked fine. the 3.1 appsync works fine for 3.1.2 btw.
Easiest Jailbreak I’ve ever done. Plugged it in, updated to 3.1.2, ran blackra1n, 30 seconds later, done :D
Used it to jailbreak my new 3gs with 3.1.2 and it seemed to work fine but had issues with Cydia and ICY. Finally got them working but it won’t install and apps. Keeps telling me I need superuser access.

I am running an iphone 8 gig 3g with 3.1.2 firmware but when i click make it rain it starts entering recovery mode and then says running… and the screen on my phone shows the itunes logo with an arrow saying to plug it into itunes i left it like this nearly ten minutes but nothing happens and blackrain keeps saying running…
please help ive been waiting a long time for this jailbreak since i dont have a mac

if you are not able to jailbreak and are stuck at the connect to itunes screen…… to boot the phone back to normal without having to restore, hold the power and home buttons until it turns off. then press the power button to turn the phone back on. once you see the apple logo hold the home button for about 10 seconds. this will turn your phone back on normally.
i’m still trying to find a fix for the connect to itunes problem. i have 3 iphones and all of them worked fine. i tried to jailbreak my friends and it keeps getting stuck on the connect to itunes screen.

ok i figured it out. this worked for the phone that was stuck on the connect to itunes logo.
hold down the power and home button until the phone turns off.
open blackra1n and click on make it ra1n
hold down the home and power buttons again until you see the apple logo (about 10-15 seconds)
once you see the apple logo, release the power button but keep holding the home button.
it will go to the connect to itunes screen for a couple seconds then change to geohot. you can let go of the home button now and wait for your phone to reboot.

and this guy’s instruction (just a repost, non at my credit):
1. MOVE THE APP TO YOUR C:\ DRIVE
2. DISABLE AUTOMATIC SYNC IN ITUNES
THEN CLOSE I TUNES
3. WHILE THE PHONE IS ON RUN THE APP AND “MAKE IT RAIN” IT WILL MOST LIKELY FAIL (NO GEOHOT LOGO). ONCE IT FAILS HOLD THE HOME AND OFF BUTTON ON TOP TILL IT TURNS OFF.
4. TURN THE PHONE BACK ON. AND ONCE ITS ON MAKE IT RAIN AGAIN.
5. **MOST IMPORTANT**THIS IS THE TRICK**AFTER YOU CLICK MAKE IT RAIN HOLD DOWN THE OFF BUTTON AND HOME BUTTON TILL THE SCREEN GOES BLACK. AS SOON AS IT GOES BLACK CONTINUE TO HOLD THE HOME BUTTON EVEN IF YOU SEE THE ITUNES SYNC LOGO. IT TAKES BOUT 30 SECS TO DO SO.
6: YOU WILL SEE GEO, AND IT WILL START TO INSTALL. IT TOOK ME A FEW TRIES BUT I DEF KNOW IT WORKS 100%. THERE ARE SOME VIDS ON YOUTUBE. CHECK THEM OUT
If following the video still doesn’t work, run blackra1n (on WIndows Vista) as an administrator.. (right click on icon, hit “Run as Administrator”)
i tried this and it still doesnt work i am becoming very frustrated now, i had an earlier post in this and i am running windows vista x64 and i have an 8 gig 3g running 3.1.2 i also tried doing the steps where you hold the home and power button and you release the power button but that doesnt work either, please help

i have an i-phone 2g with a activated rogers sim card, fw 3.1.2 and was previously unlocked&jailbroken on fw 2.1.1 with cydia etc….
so, ive updated my unlocked/jailbroken i-phone via i-tunes to 3.1.2.
i am running on windows xp, but i have access to up to date macs.
i am experiencing difficulties running blackra1n successfully on my pc, and i have tried the outlined instructions previously posted in this thread on operating blackra1n but nothings worked yet.
could anyone save my precious i-phone?
I have a iPod 2g 3.0 Jailbroken with tons of installed apps. If I do this and upgrade to the new firmware I will lose all my apps. How can I restore all my jailbroken apps without having to reinstall them manually?

As long as you re jailbreak your device and then go to cydia and the hackulo package and install app sync and then you sync to itunes and make sure you say sync apps and you have all the cracked apps selected as well itll reinstall them for you

Ok wierd thing happened with me and my iPhone 2G which was bought in the States and jailboken to work here in Canada. I upgraded to the newest firmware and didn’t need to do anything to get it to work again just worked out of the box right after the update, I was on the latest 2.X firmware right before. Might have something to do with having been on 3.0 before which might explain it. I didn’t need to use this problem but did just incase and it worked perfectly no problems at all.
Anyone having problems using blackrain look at the post made by Malik. He said “dont release the power button until it says running( continue to hold the home buton)
and it wrks like magic” It really did work like magic, geos picture came up and i was jailbroken!!!

1) open blackrain
2) Hit make it rain
3) As soon as the phone turns off hold the power button and home button
4)Keep holding them even when the apple logo appears, it may restart the phone a second time do not worry about that
5) As soon as blackrain says running release the power button and hold the home button
6) once you do that it should bring up the picture of geo but it could take a couple seconds so be patient and keep holding the home button till the pic pops up
7) once the pic pops up let go of the home button and sit back and wait till the phone is done showing the pic it will reboot on its own and then go to the blackrain app and you can install rock, icy, and cydia whichever you choose
But remember keep holding the home and power button till blackrain says running once it says running hold the home button!!!

This is the right procedure. Install Icy, Cydia and Rock separately.
I did as explained above but in step 7 my 3GS never rebooted. I click on the buttons but cannot have my iphone restarted. It does not turn on. I had to run itunes to have it back to the beginning. Any ideas? thanks!

1. My iphone wifi seems to be not working….it does not detect any wifi network….anyone with same problem???
2. i still cant use other cellular network. the phone is still locked to my default cellular provider….???

If you want free apps through installous, or want to get themes or control your phone from the inside out then jailbreaking is worth it. Most everyone that has commented has said this works beautifully on the 3Gs, i cant say by experience since i have a 3G
my Mcafee picked up that the download above has a trojan in it!

i have no clue, i had downloaded a theme and winterboard was installed with and then i rebooted and everything worked fine and i had my jailbreak working perfectly

as i try 2 turn it on all that show is the apple for about a couple of seconds then goes back off and it does tha same thing everytime u try 2 turn it on
you’re phone does that when you turn it on? Does the phone show in iTunes if connected to the computer? if not Try holding the home button when you plug it into the computer as it’s turnin on hold the home button and see if iTunes recognizes it in recovery mode
have iTunes running when you plug in the phone and if it recognizes it in recovery mode I recommend you restore the phone and then read my post above a few posts above this with step by step on how to jailbreak using blackrain
on my 3gs when i downloaded winterboard it ask me to reboot and after that IT WILL NOT COME THA FUCK ON. i need help real badly im goin crazy
Got mine working.
first I removed Rock, reinstalled Cedia from Blackra1n, reinstalled mobile substrate, reinstalled Winterboard, rebooted device and BAM, worked great.
I amke the jailbreak a 3g,2g touch but cant jailbreak the iphone 2g with 3.1.2 weird!!I make it rain it charge everything but keeps connecting to itunes screen so what can I do?? any suggestion??

When I try and install my Apps I get error messages from Itunes.

It is true. Download the program again. They must have fixed the install bugs. Seriously, easiest install ever…. just download it again.
Why bother and wasting your precious time trying to figure out how to use the imperfect damn Blackra1n, which comes with no instruction at all and SHAMELESSLY ASKED FOR DONATION at its website!!!
Go find an apple computer and download the PwnageTool 3.1.4 then your problem with unlocking & jailbreaking the new iphone version 3.1.2 would be easily and peacefully solved!

Do you have to turn ur phone off while doing this jailbreak like you did with quickpwn? Just curious because my power button is broke so I have been to scared to try and upgrade. Or can I upgrade my jailbroken phone to the new firmware while still keeping it jailbroken? SOmeone please let me know.
