If you’re freaked out about getting attacking by the ikee (otherwise known as ike_x) iPhone worm and want to change your SSH password on your iPhone then look no further! We’ll show you how to change it easily.
Note: This is only for jailbroken iPhone’s with OpenSSH installed and MobileTerminal installed
Note 2: We are not responsible if your iPhone blows up during this process or if you mess up and forget your password! Use at your own risk!
- Get your jailbroken iPhone and open MobileTerminal (If you don’t have it already, get it from Cydia)
- In MobileTerminal, type in: su root
- It’ll ask you for a password, type in: alpine
- To make the screen a bit cleaner, type in: cd
- Now, to change your password, type in: passwd
- Enter the password you desire (You will not see the characters in the screen as you type them for security reasons)
- Enter the password you entered once more
- You’re essentially done, if you want to change the password for the mobile space on the iPhone, continue reading… If not, close MobileTerminal and pat yourself on the back.
- If you’re going to change the password for the Mobile user, type in: passwd mobile
- Enter the password you desire (You will not see the characters in the screen as you type them for security reasons)
- Enter the password you entered once more
- All done! You are now secure! You may close MobileTerminal

Great job,but can we get something to actually be excited about? Like flash 10 support hack for the iphone?
Was following along. When I open up MobileTerminal it shows the keyboard, but doesn’t print anything in the window for 3 or 4 seconds, then closes with out me pressing a button. It is the 1st application I installed from Rock.
Any thoughts?
I’ll probably remove Rock and try with Cydia…
Installed Cydia, it did its “reorganizing” thing and now MobileTerminal works. And my password is changed.
What did I learn: Cydia > Rock
Thanks all.
Search “Pam” in ROCK and install it. Than Mobile Terminal will work also with the ROCK-Installer.
It worked 4me :).
I can’t seem to change the default password. i followed the steps and I still can’t do it. Everything I tried it either said, “sorry” or “su: incorrect password”. I’m not sure what is going on but it is alittle frustrating. Any help? thanks.
So, what in the heck does “the mobile space on the iPhone” mean, anyway? Is this a password for the unlock screen?
