The iH8sn0w Dev Team have released sn0wbreeze version 1.5.1 to jailbreak and unlock Apple’s recently released iPhone OS 3.1.3. Sn0wbreeze allows users to upgrade from a jailbroken iPhone OS 3.1.2 or lower to iPhone OS 3.1.3. We encourage you to carefully read below before attempting to use this application.

sn0wbreeze is a tool for Windows that will jailbreak your iPods and iPhones, setup custom boot logos, activate your iPhone, root partition size, build custom IPSW, and more!

Alright, so it all seems fine and dandy so far but here’s the catch: Your iPhone or iPod MUST BE iPhone OS 3.1.2 or lower and it must be jailbroken or pwned prior to using sn0wbreeze. Sn0wbreeze will NOT work if you have already upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.3. It allows users to upgrade their jailbroken iPhone runing iPhone OS 3.1.2 or lower to jailbroken iPhone OS 3.1.3.

Sn0wbreeze will work with the following devices:

  • iPhone 3GS (OLD BOOTROM ONLY. If the 4th/5th digits of the serial # are before 40 then you should have the old bootrom. If your current jailbreak is tethered DO NOT try this.)
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 2G
  • iPod Touch 2G (OLD BOOTROM ONLY. If your current jailbreak is tethered you have the new bootrom so stay away and/or If your model # starts with MC you have the new bootrom so stay away!)
  • iPod Touch 1G

In addition, sn0wbreeze can unlock these following devices:

  • All iPhone 2G
  • iPhones with 04.26.08 Baseband
  • iPhones with 05.11.07 Baseband

Note: You can find your baseband/firmware via the Settings app (General->About->Modem Firmware

You can download Sn0wbreeze 1.5.1 for Windows below.

The good ol’ folks from the iPhone Dev Team have updated redsn0w after a long time without any updates.

iPhone Dev Team Redsn0w 0.9.2 update

A cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. Customizations include boot logos, recovery logos, and “verbose” boot. It’s a standalone program that doesn’t use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved).

iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w finally supports iPhone OS 3.1.2 but it’s still tether-only for late models such as the iPod Touch 2G if the serial number starts with “MC”, any iPod Touch 3G and iPhone 3GS.

The new version of Redsn0w also adds new features such as, Verbose boot, addition of custom Boot Logos, and bypassing jailbreak if your device is already jailbroken.

Redsn0w downloads will be up shortly!

Been awhile since Apple has issued an update for iTunes. Not sure if that’s a good thing or bad, but Apple has released an updated version of all our beloved app — iTunes.

This version fixes a number of issues and bugs with iTunes version 9.0.2 including:

  • iTunes no longer ignores your “Remember password for purchases” setting.
  • Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod.
  • Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected.
  • Addresses issues that affect stability and performance.

You can get the update from Software Update on either Windows or Mac OS X or if you like, you can download the update from Apple.com (source link)

GeoHot beat the iPhone Dev Team on this one, but no worries – It’s all good. You can create your own custom pre-jailbroken IPSW and restore it on your iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 1G, iPod Touch 2G but sadly, no iPod Touch 3G support, you’ll have to use GeoHot’s Blackra1n to jailbreak.

SUMMARY:

  • The iPhone 3GS is now supported out of the box in PwnageTool 3.1.4 (or if you have upgraded to 3.1.x in iTunes)
  • The iPod 2G is still supported in PwnageTool 3.1.4 but you must already be jailbroken (we’ll update this if there’s a big demand from non-jailbroken ipt2G owners)
  • The iPod touch 3G is NOT supported

DETAILS:

  • GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a iPhone 3G or iPhone 3G(S) with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service then you should only update your device with an .ipsw that is made with the new PwnageTool. There are no second chances with this. You need to remember that PwnageTool will provide an upgrade path to newer versions of the iPhone software in the future.
  • Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
  • Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
  • PwnageTool will work for the iPhone 3GS
  • PwnageTool will work for the iPod touch 2G
  • PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G(S) and the iPod touch (1st Generation and 2nd Generation) but NOT the iPod touch 3rd generation.
  • For 3G and 3G(S) users who are Pwned, PwnageTool is your key to updating in the future, just remember to never install an update directly from Apple, always use an .ipsw that has been created with PwnageTool.
  • There is no Windows version of PwnageTool it is a Mac OS X tool only, we are not developing a Windows version of PwnageTool.

Once again, iPhone Dev Team comes to the rescue with PwnageTool version 3.1 to jailbreak Apple’s recently released firmware 3.1. Unfortunately, this does NOT work with the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G (2nd/3rd generation) this ONLY works with the 2G iPhone and 3G iPhone and 1G iPod Touch. redsn0w for Mac OS X and Windows will be released when the iPhone Dev Team is ready to release it.

  • GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw.
  • If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.1 unlock works with this PwnageTool release. iPhone 3G users upgrading to 3.1 will need to continue using ultrasn0w with a PwnageTool created 3.1 .ipsw
  • Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
  • Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
  • This app is suitable for the recent 3.1 release.
  • This version of PwnageTool will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
  • PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.

PwnageTool is available for Mac OS X only. You may download PwnageTool 3.1 here

MCleaner is an application to help you manage what calls and SMS messages get through and which ones get stopped dead in their track! I use it often to prevent unknown people from calling me in the middle of the night and only accept calls from contacts/numbers in my white list.

MCleaner for iPhone 1.8.1 MCleaner for iPhone 1.8.1

Main features:

  • Filter incoming/outgoing calls and sms.
  • Support “black” and “white” lists.
  • Six block modes to reject the call.
  • Set a profile to change MCleaner filter policy quickly.
  • Scheduler mode for regular event.
  • Protect user’s privacy by password and automatically move outgoing logs of blacklist to MCleaner’s private log database.
  • Option to fake data when wrong password is input (and not null).
  • AutoReply to blocked calls using SMS .
  • Ability to block the hidden number.
  • You can define your own schedule, profile .etc.
  • Disable Sms Preview.
  • Out call accepted Vibrate;New blocked call/sms Vibrate.

MCleaner works beautifully, it doesn’t bog down your iPhone CPU, so if you don’t have an iPhone 3GS then you don’t have to worry about your iPhone running slow all the time. You even have control of how MCleaner rejects a call: Hangup the call, Busy to Voicemail, Accept and Hangup, etc. You can also define your own schedule so MCleaner can block all calls at night and accept all during the day. MCleaner is a truly awesome app. You can give it a try for free for 15 days or buy it for $11.99 USD.

Make sure to add www.mcleaner.com/iphone/cydia to your Cydia source list to get MCleaner!

Update: The iPhone Dev Team have updated Redsn0w to 0.7.2 – Download the newest version from our iPhone Downloads section:
redsn0w 0.7.2 for Mac OS X download
redsn0w 0.7.2 for Windows download

iPhone Dev Team has released an application that works similar to quickpwn and provides similar functionality. Redsn0w is an easy to use, multi-platform, multi-device jailbreaking and unlocking (iPhone 2G only) tool for the iPhone 2G (original iPhone), the iPhone 3G (but not the 3GS) and also the iPod touch (first and second generation). Luckily for Windows users, who couldn’t use PwnageTool, Redsn0w is available for both Windows and Mac OS X users. However, iPhone Dev Team notes that there are some issues using redsn0w with OS X PPC and they suggest you use an Intel Mac till these issues are resolved.

  1. GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
  2. Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you will be able to get it via Cydia or Icy).
  3. Please read all parts of this post before downloading and using these tools.
  4. Read items 1, 2 and 3 again and again.
  5. This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release
  6. redsn0w will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
  7. redsn0w WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch, iPod touch 2G and the iPhone 3G (not the iPhone 3GS).

Redsn0w is easy to use, simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)

Redsn0w download:
redsn0w for windows download
redsn0w for Mac OS X download

*Note*: there are some issues using redsn0w with OS X PPC, please use an Intel Mac while the iPhone Dev Team fixes these issues

Our very own NurkJon has released a really handy application for Windows named iUSB Tunnel. iUSB Tunnel makes it truly simple to SSH to your iPhone, tether to your iPhone, and to do many other things all with a simple user-friendly GUI.

iUSB Tunnel

iUSB Tunnel is a simple gui that makes it easy to use SSH, VNC and Tethering with your iPhone over usb on a Windows machine. It’s a free liteweight program and portable so you can run it from a usb stick if you want. It comes loaded with WinSCP, Putty, Firefox Portable, iTunnel, TightVNC and UltraVNC so you don’t have to download those programs.

I haven’t had a chance to test this out myself, but I thank NurkJon for releasing this on our own forums and for all of his hard work!

If you would like to give this a shot, you can download it via our iPhone Downloads section or you may download it from the source link.
Download iUSB Tunnel Installer v1.2.0
Download iUSB Tunnel v1.2.0 — No Installation required

Join the on going discussion on iUSB Tunnel on our forums.

‘Bout time, right? RipDev have released InstallerApp for Windows. It took longer than they expected but the only thing that matters is that it’s finally out. If you don’t know what InstallerApp is, it’s a desktop application to install Apple Unapproved 3rd Party applications onto your jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch via USB. Both Cydia repositories and Installer repositories are supported, so that’s a plus.

InstallerApp works on anything from XP to Windows 7, so which ever version of Windows you’re using you should be good! InstallerApp requires iTunes so make sure you have that installed before hand.

InstallerApp license costs $7USD and the license ties to the devices so it works regardless on which platform you use it on.

RipDev has announced an upcoming application named InstallerApp — InstallerApp will allow users to install jailbreak unofficial third-party application via a desktop application. It will look similar to Installer.app on the iPhone but it will be on your desktop. You will be able to view and download applications from Installer and Cydia (yay!) repositories and then sync them to your iPhone via USB. Pretty awesome for those who don’t have Wi-Fi or cell network access.

InstallerApp

Once you download the app, it will be kept on your hard drive (unless, of course you delete it) and just like iTunes, InstallerApp will notify you when there are updates for application you’ve downloaded. InstallerApp is still in beta testing and version 1.0 will be released very soon!
Pretty awesome idea!
What do you guys think? Will you be using this often when it releases? Let us know!
