iPhone in UK, France & Germany
I visited the apple showroom today and understood that apple has plans to release iPhones to UK (o2), France (Orange) and Germany (not sure of the service provider) in November 07. Looks like France Law are stringent and they have to provide unlock codes to the subscribers in 6 months of entering the contract. apple have plans to release unlocked and locked versions in france. (unlocked phones would be priced high)
because of the contract in france, the unlocking codes would be out in july next year.
