ok, i'm total new to allllllll this.
i got a iPhone from canada, it was unlocked and could/can use any sim card. i was on iTunes and saw an update which i did [foolish me]..... Now all i'm seeing is "slide for emergencies".
Whlie the iTunes Appliation is saying the SIM does not seems to be supported
Only the key pad comes up after i slide........the crazy thing is i still am recieving calls and can dial out.
But i have no access to anything esle on the phone.
can i get this fix and, how "STEP BY STEP"...PLS

Download redsn0w and JAU then if your a 3G user go into Cydia and download/install ultrasn0w.

OK,
I did that, after a few trys it worked and started to restore but then jus before the end after it was restore and a message was about to come on the screen. My pc [windows vista] crashed........it dumped all teh files and then just froze i had to power it down. the iPhone is now or still displaying iTunes logo, and a usb connecter, and slide for emergency.
oh, and when connected to iTunes, it says SIM is not Supported, wat can i do about this?
Should i try restore agian?![]()

Yes, did you use the files from that link?
DFU restore with the firmware needed, then JAU with same ipsw and redsn0w.
If you are a 3G user you have to get Ultrasn0w from cydia to unlock.

k,
i'm good now i think, its open and making recieving callls...... just needed to try a few times and get the instructions correctly...now i jus have to go into settings and set it how i want it.

Help, I just bought a used 1st gen iphone for my kid and it came in stuck in recovery mode. I have tried everything loaded and unloaded itunes 10 times, tried ziphone, redsn0w, Independence etc. I'm not trying to hack it just to get it working any ideas. I have an older imac and also some windows pc's
