i had juz upgraded my iphone 2g from 2.2 to 3 using Redsn0w
the whole process is smooth but after upgrading and jailbreaking, i had some problems with my incoming calls. all calls had been diverted to voicemail.
Ultrasn0w was installed by some advice from the forum, but the problem is only temporatly solved.
The same problem reoccur after 24hrs.

The second problem is the battery problem. after the upgrade and jailbreak, my battery can only last me for less then 12hours.

The third question is, i am using windows XP, itunes ver 8.2, iphone 2g. can i upgrade and jailbreak my phone to os 3.1.2???
anyone tried and can my above problems be solved???

ok first off ultrasn0w should have been installed in the first place if your using t-mobile, but since you mention that it helped after you installed it leads me to believe your using at&t, which you do not need to use ultrasn0w

as for battery 3.0 has issues, not dev teams fault but across the board when you restore do not restore settings and it will fix it. (all it restores is settings for springboard, sync settings)

not sure if you can upgrade to 3.1.2 with itunes 8.2, but if your using att then go ahead and restore to 3.1.2 (have it create a new device) and use blackra1n to jailbreak

me a singaporean, not using at&t, but we have a mobile service called mobile one.
i believe its totally different from at&t. ultrasn0w was only able to solve my problem for 24hours only
after 24 hours, the problem occur again, which is the unable to recieve calls.

secondly, i did not restore any settings at all. all as brand new users. but the same problem occur. but recently, i took off the SIM card, the batt can last as per my version 2.2

lastly, i wanted to upgrade again to 3.1.2 but i ever read of it that blackra1n cannot jailbreak???

how did you get get this phone? is it sold by your mobile provider?

well if he got it from teh states then my bet is you needed to be running yellowsn0w in order to make calls in the first place, once you upgraded to 3.0 you needed ultrasn0w.

if you know a friend with a mac i would recomend making a custom 3.1.2 ipsw that will hacktivate and not update your baseband.. if you are already updated to 3.1.2 wait til wednesday and geohot is going to release blacksn0w that will allow you to unlock your phone at 3.1.2

so basically saying either way wednesday you should be able to make calls again in case you dont know anyone with a mac or dont want to use a custom ipsw you found online

doubt it, apple started to sign their firmwares and making it so you cant really just downgrade.. but as i said if you hold out for 2 more days, blacksn0w will be out and you can install that via cydia, and it will function as a phone again

ok first, there is an edit button so you dont have to keep posting, as far as i know, if you upgrade to 3.1.2 use blackra1n and jailbreak then add the repo for blacksn0w and install that and your phone should be back to normal

How to jailbreak your iPhone with BlackRa1n RC2:

Step 1: Update iTunes to the latest version available and reboot your computer.

Step 2: Download BlackRa1n RC3 and install it.

Step 3: Plug your iPhone in your computer and launch BlackRa1n RC3. Click on “make it ra1n

Step 4: Your iPhone will enter recovery mode. The regular recovery mode image on your iPhone will be replaced by a picture of GeoHot

Step 5: BlackRa1n will run on your iPhone and then it will reboot.

Step 6: Once your iPhone reboots, you will have a new icon on your springboard. This is BlackRa1n. Now make sure you have internet connection and launch BlackRa1n on your iPhone.

Step 7: Choose what installer applications you want to install on your iPhone and then tap “Install. I recommend installing Cydia, if you need to unlock your phone to use on other GSM carriers then choose to install sn0w as well.

Step 8: Once Cydia is installed. You can safely uninstall BlackRa1n by launching the app and selecting “uninstall balckra1n and rebooting your phone.

first... jailbreak using BlackRa1n RC2 or RC3???
second... step 1: Update itunes or iphone to latest version??? if itunes, is 8.2 good enough???
third... BlackRa1n RC3 no need to install, comes in exe format???
fourth... After step 5, the iphone will be in the locked mode, how could i see the icon of BlackRa1n???

what i mean lock mode is i cannot access any pages except the emergency calls only page...

if the iphone is still locked... i cannot continue the process...

if i read well u said that U have an iPhone 2G(first gen iPhone),

answers:
1. u need to identified your iphone is a 2G (alluminum back)
2.itunes latest which means 9.0.2
3.its ok to update
4.too bad... MAC hawe a a solution called pwnage tool 3.1.4
