Hi, I have an iPhone 2G that was ZiPhoned and happily running 1.1.4. I'm not on an official contract so I also had the phone unlocked so I can use my (non-apple contract) O2 simcard.
Long story short, I couldn't wait for Zibri to finish faffing around making all his wildly generalised blog posts and never actually specifying when his hack was coming. (I have lost all faith in him, profiteering bastard that he is). So I decided (after reading through your site and tutorials) to quickpwn my phone to 2.0.2.
I updated iTunes, restored my phones firmware to 2.0.2 through iTunes and then followed the instructions in QuickPwn. The phone successfully updated and unlocked so I could use it, but I have no signal anymore (can't make any calls). Have I missed some important step out? I really need my phone working fully again!
Many thanks in advance

Wait for winpwn 2.5 to come out, then try pwning it again.

Its okay, I have just found the solution here ( http://www.iphone-hacks.com/2008/08/21/ … /#comments )
Basically, Cydia -> Bootneuter and then unlock the baseband.
Hope this helps anyone else who encounters this problem.

yes all you have to do is on the iPhone go to:
- settings
- reset
- reset network settings
- the iphone will do it's thing when it's done you should have network
- THATS IT YOUR DONE ![]()

You did unlock the iPhone right?

I did unlock my phone yes, but not the way you did it there.
I used cydia to download bootneuter then selected
Bootloader
Version - 4.6
Neuter - On
Baseband
Unlock - On
And then i hit flash and it unlocked it. But clearly theres a far simpler way if your method works. Maybe would make a nice addition to the guides, because I didn't notice any mention of that anywhere, and its not immediately obvious to a novice such as myself how it was supposed to be done.
For peoples interest:
I'm in the UK, running a 2G 8Gb iPhone on an O2 contract(but not an official apple one so my phone needed to be unlocked for the SIM to work). Previously I was using many apps on my 1.1.4 jailbroken phone. I am now running 2.0.2 and so far it has its positives and negatives. Firstly it doesn't seem as stable. I initially had problems with my mail(and a few other apps) crashing as soon as i opened them, but after downloading BossPrefs and doing 'Fix User Dir Permissions' that did solve those problems. However, I still get certain apps crashing at random, but its not too bad at all.
It seems a little bit more sluggish than 1.1.4 but its not really that noticable.
There are new apps in the official appstore as well as cydia and installer that are better than some available under 1.1.4, and there are also plenty that I'm missing already that aren't available (AgileMessenger, anyone?).
Anyone still thinking about upgrading from their 1.1.4 jailbreak should know that it was really quite a painless process to update to 2.0.2, if you desperately need an application that you had under 1.1.4 then you should check before you do it because many of those old apps have not been ported yet.
Thanks very much to everyone that runs this site, I found all the information I needed right from this one place.
