Iphone 2g help!!
Ok so my friend got his iphone from his dad because his dad bought the 3g. Im fairly good with iphones i got a 2.0.2 iphone 3g jailbroken of course.
here is the problem. my friend tought he was a genius and tried hacking his iphone. well before it was unlocked on 1.1.4 so he was using his sim card. now when he went to restore it on itunes* like i said retard* he needs a sim card.
So my question is... is there any way to unlock an iphone without using itunes?

Umm..no not really. Everything goes through iTunes, mainly the restore process. Who knows, maybe someone will make a tool that will restore without using iTunes.

All you need to do is use Pwnage to create a custom 2.x IPSW for the 2G phone, and then pwn iTunes and restore. You can unlock it after that.

no you cant use itunes at all as soon as you connect it it tells me to activate the phone like start a contract eventhough im using my 3g simcard. i dont know im going to try my other friends 2g simcard. any other i dead please post!!

hmmm... if your a win user you could download winamp. one of the latest versions has iphone support but i'm not sure up to what extant (as im a mac user) so give it a try....

Did you actually use the Pwnage program? or Winpwn? You don't start by plugging your phone into a non-pwned iTunes.
You can restore IPSW's on any iphone, regardless of SIM cards.

as to buttchew i really dont know what he did. from what i understand he had his non iphone simcard in there when he restored and and ofcourse now the itunes is asking for a new plan, but when i put cancel it just goes off itunes
