Hot off the presses — Simplify Media Build 949. Several worthwhile updates have made their way into this version; so check it out…
Simplify Media enables access to your music library, and if you have any friends, theirs too — up to 30 of ‘em — wherever Wi-Fi is available.
What’s new?
Album art - this version uses Amazon Web Services to search for a match. In the future we will display the cover art already associated with the file for increased accuracy and rely on Amazon as a fallback.
Artist bios - from last.fm. These user-created bios are distributed under the GNU free document license.
Lyrics - courtesy of lyrics wiki and also user-generated and distributed under the GNU free document license.
Shuffle - select Shuffle from the top of any song list, and the tracks from an album, a genre, an artist or a playlist will be randomized for your enjoyment. It even works with the All Songs list.
Download the Simplify Media iPhone client via Nullriver’s Installer. And grab the server — for Windows or Mac — by following the source link.

Comments (6)It’s here — iPhone DevTeam’s Pwnage…

Mac OS X features:
The “DevTeam” would like to announce the release of the OS X version of the PwnageTool application.
The team (and especially Wizdaz) have been working hard to bring you this release in as short a time as possible.
The plan (4 weeks ago) was to release a Mac tool only. This was decided because of the lack of reliable Mac filesystem tools on Windows, and the fact that the task of porting them would be too time consuming.
With that in mind the genius that is “cmw” stepped up to the plate and offered his services to the DevTeam. He proposed to provide a tool that would give the same functionality and User Interface as the Mac tool.
cmw has done an almost unthinkable task and ported the almost complete Pwnage Tool to Windows in a little under a week, and we would like to thank him for this unbelievable work. He is currently in the final test stages and hopefully this should be finished within the next 24 hours (but even he needs sleep and family time occasionally!) We’ll post a link as soon as the testing has finished.
cmw’s site is at http://www.iphonelinux.org
The Mac tool is available at http://www.iphone-dev.org

Comments (10)iPhone developers should know, and probably already know, that Apple has released their second beta version of the SDK.
The second beta version of the iPhone SDK is now available and includes Interface Builder, a powerful tool that allows you to visually build your interface and makes creating a UI as simple as drag and drop.
We’ve also added new sample code and updated documentation to the rich set of resources available to you in the iPhone Dev Center.
Log in to the iPhone Dev Center today and download the new version of the iPhone SDK.
Thanks Manuel.

iLiberty+ also solves the non-working EDGE/WiFi/BlueTooth problem; commonly encountered after using ZiPhone.
Extra tools (or Payloads) are included to facilitate further hacking needs.

Get down with the get down.

Comments (12)Zibri’s rockin’ a new version of ZiPhone…
Current ZiPhone users:
iPhone owners — you have no *real* reason to upgrade. Boys & girls sporting the iPod Touch — you want this version; it clears/fixes the NVRAM issue. Download, click on CLEAR/FIX NVRAM, then after reboot, jailbreak that bad boy (or girl).
New ZiPhone users:
If you’re looking for a simple software solution to activate, jailbreak, and unlock your iPhone/iPod Touch — download ZiPhone right now. It doesn’t get much easier than this.

The dev team has been using dual-booting to jailbreak the iPhone for several months now, however now that several more advanced techniques have been developed (many of which are still private), I thought it apropos to release this cool hack for those who would like to dual boot multiple versions of the iPhone software (or other OS’s) from their handset. It’s a neat little hack that I think might be useful for developers playing with 1.2, which appears to disable the radio (phone calls).
Cool hack indeed. It’s somewhat of a complex process requiring technical know-how. If you’re unfamiliar or uncomfortable with command line, don’t bother attempting this. Otherwise — go nuts!
Kudos team.
