The dev team has been using dual-booting to jailbreak the iPhone for several months now, however now that several more advanced techniques have been developed (many of which are still private), I thought it apropos to release this cool hack for those who would like to dual boot multiple versions of the iPhone software (or other OS’s) from their handset. It’s a neat little hack that I think might be useful for developers playing with 1.2, which appears to disable the radio (phone calls).
Cool hack indeed. It’s somewhat of a complex process requiring technical know-how. If you’re unfamiliar or uncomfortable with command line, don’t bother attempting this. Otherwise — go nuts!
Kudos team.
Comments (4)Easier than chicken pot pie is an extremely simple method to jailbreak and get Installer.app on your 1.1.1 iPhone, for real…
A number of hackers — metasploit, rezn, dinopio, drudge, kroo, pumpkin, davidc, dunham, and NerveGas — have created and launched jailbreakme.com. While the Safari exploit remains unpatched, we’ll remain with a one-step solution to fully unleash the iPhone in all its glory. This works on the iPod Touch also.
The only prerequisite is an activated phone with working Wi-Fi; I typically fake activation using iNdependence. This isn’t necessary for iPod Touch owners.
AppSnapp feature list:
When you’re ready, browse to jailbreakme.com (via Mobile Safari) and follow the on screen instructions. Have fun!
Thanks for the tip dlr.
Comments (19)NerveGas, Pumpkin, Edgan, drudge, dinopio, and asap18 have released their method to jailbreak iPhone’s running system software 1.1.1.
I strongly encourage you read the included README carefully and thoroughly; as stated in the introduction, “Jailbreaking iPhone software v1.1.1 is an involved process, but can be accomplished with the documentation here. The following steps will be explained in-depth. Please read them thoroughly before proceeding.”
Good luck!
Mad props to the entire team.

Comments (11)Using some symbolic link trickery, iPhone hackers “dinopio” and “Edgan” have gained access to the iPhone’s file system — an iPhone running 1.1.1 that is! Unfortunately the file system remains read-only, with the exception of /var/root — you can of course write files there.
With this latest advancement we now have the ability to copy the entire 1.1.1 file tree for analytical purposes. Perhaps someone will figure out a method to activate the mobile iTunes Wi-Fi store (MobileStore.app) on 1.0.2 — if it’s truly not dependent on 1.1.1 frameworks. Only time will tell.
