ZodTTD has released a video of a working iControlPad. ZodTTD is playing quake4iphone and it looks pretty sweet.

A price or release date have not been set and by the looks of it, it’ll only work with jailbreak apps and not official apps. Either way, pretty sweet!

Remember a few months ago we told you about the iControlPad, the “game-pad sleeve” that goes around your iPhone to create a new better gaming experience? Well, ZodTTD was sent an exclusive photograph of the final prototype of the iControlPad before it went to mass-production by the iControlPad team.

ZodTTD claims it’s real and it’s really coming. Personally, I’m psyched something like this is coming soon (I hope). I’m not the biggest fan of gaming on the iPhone, it’s great and all but it needs buttons, physical buttons. I think the iControlpad will be a huge success for people like myself.

Things are poppin’ over at the iControlPad development blog; you know, the “game-pad sleeve” that fits tight around the iPhone creating a whole new portable gaming experience.

So what’s the latest? They have a sexy render of the iControlPad shown below. The end result maybe slightly larger than the PSP after all; at least by the look of things…

As well, a demo video from ZodTTD showcasing the SNES control pad hack using an iControlPad prototype:

That’s that for now.

All iPhoners and iPhonerettes, if you’re serious about portable gaming, or maybe those khakis have insufficient pocket space for both your iPhone and PSP, then you must check this out — for real.

You and I both know emulators and games [on the iPhone] just ain’t the same without any actual controls. And that touch-screen business is nonsense from a gamer’s perspective. So, the remedy — iControlPad.

iControlPad fits nicely over the iPhone connecting via the serial port. It looks & feels similar to the PSP, but is said to be slightly smaller. Already iControlPad works with ZodTTD and the PSX / GBA emulators. No doubt more will follow suit.

And yes, an iTouch version is coming too. As well, full source code and SDK support will be provided.
