‘Bout time, right? RipDev have released InstallerApp for Windows. It took longer than they expected but the only thing that matters is that it’s finally out. If you don’t know what InstallerApp is, it’s a desktop application to install Apple Unapproved 3rd Party applications onto your jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch via USB. Both Cydia repositories and Installer repositories are supported, so that’s a plus.

InstallerApp works on anything from XP to Windows 7, so which ever version of Windows you’re using you should be good! InstallerApp requires iTunes so make sure you have that installed before hand.

InstallerApp license costs $7USD and the license ties to the devices so it works regardless on which platform you use it on.

RipDev released InstallerApp a few weeks ago, InstallerApp allows you to install applications from repositories from Installer or Cydia from your desktop.

What’s new?:

  • Added iPod touch 1G support (iPod touch 2G is not supported at the moment)
  • Added More Information panel to view additional information about packages
  • Improved processing of packages with dependencies
  • Upgraded device integration module and iPhone support
  • Improved interaction with iTunes
  • Enhanced support for numerous packages
  • Added most popular packages (in terms of user feedback) to the “Featured” category
  • Added YouTube support for “unlocked” iPhones
  • Added tooltips for package status icons
  • Added notification for packages with unknown sources
  • Added new command-line utilities for packages that might require them
  • Added ability to “Force Delete” packages that have dependencies (including “circular” dependencies)
  • Improved package synchronization process
  • Fixed “Recent packages” issue where recent packages would not show
  • Fixed application crash after unexpected device disconnect
  • Fixed error with package refresh after adding or removing sources

A ton of fixed stuff, improved features, and added features. Pretty awesome! Unfortunately for Windows users, you’ll have to keep waiting for a WIndows version, it should be coming soon. No word from RipDev on a planned release date but they say soon, sit tight.

InstallerApp, unfortunately, isn’t free – $7USD for One (1) license for up to 3 devices and Without a license, InstallerApp is a fully functional application, including ability to perform Push procedure and put Installer.app on iPhone — only package installation onto the iPhone is not available.

You may remember us telling you about InstallerApp a while ago, yeah? Well, RipDev finally released InstallerApp version 1.0 – In case you don’t know, InstallerApp is an application by RipDev (Developer of Installer.app) InstallerApp allows you to install unofficial 3rd party application to your iPhone via your desktop over a USB cable. Absolutely perfect for the people without a Wi-Fi connection.

InstallerApp can install software in two flavors — when you initially connect an iPhone, it will ask you to install some required components (that is mostly the Installer itself and its daemon, an application that will respond to InstallerApp requests on the USB). This can be installed on any iPhone, and if it was not jailbroken before, then it will not even open the system disk for writing — this to guarantee the security and integrity of your system.

If you wish to install software that uses APT/DPKG (probably most known on the iPhone world after the graphical front-end Cydia), then the system partition will have to be open for writing (most dpkg packages won’t work otherwise) — and yes, InstallerApp can do that too by downloading a special “ramdisk” that contains the open source components (such as dpkg, and some essential tools) and “pushing it” to the iPhone. We have rebuilt the components on our own as the ones packaged with other solutions were not built with all diligence and patience as they should have been.

InstallerApp is $7 and works for up to 3 devices. If you got more than 3 then you can buy more than one license!

RipDev has announced an upcoming application named InstallerApp — InstallerApp will allow users to install jailbreak unofficial third-party application via a desktop application. It will look similar to Installer.app on the iPhone but it will be on your desktop. You will be able to view and download applications from Installer and Cydia (yay!) repositories and then sync them to your iPhone via USB. Pretty awesome for those who don’t have Wi-Fi or cell network access.

Once you download the app, it will be kept on your hard drive (unless, of course you delete it) and just like iTunes, InstallerApp will notify you when there are updates for application you’ve downloaded. InstallerApp is still in beta testing and version 1.0 will be released very soon!
Pretty awesome idea!
What do you guys think? Will you be using this often when it releases? Let us know!
