The iPhone port of EA’s hugely awaited “Spore” game titled “Spore Origins” was released yesterday, the game managed to find it’s way into Today’s “Let’s Rock” event as well. Steve Jobs used it to showcase the iPhone as a mobile gaming platform and talked about how everyone loves Spore. So after a day of game play around town on the iPhone, how good is it?

It’s good, it’s real good! Spore Origin’s focus is on the first stage of the PC/Mac game where you are a simple multi cell organism swimming around in a microscopic world. The goal of the game is pretty straight forward, eat or be eaten.

The highly anticipated video game “Spore” from Electronic Arts has finally reached the iPhone, iPhone 3G & iPod Touch. It costs $9.99 and can be found with this App Store link: Spore App Store. Some iPhone users were worried as it seemed only iPod users had access to it luckily it only took a few hours before both became available.

I have just purchased the game I will post a review shortly :) Anyone else trying the game out feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

If you were lucky you downloaded Mahalis’s free Tetris App labeled “Tris” from Apple’s iTunes App Store before it was removed this week due to alleged copyright infringement.

I’ve received notice from Apple that they’ve been contacted by The Tetris® Company about Tris. That, I’m afraid, is essentially game over.

Tris App About

Tris was not forcibly taken down from the App Store by Apple, but instead Mahalis voluntarily removed the App for the time being himself. Leaving The Tetris® Company’s Tetris App available on the App Store for $7.99 with no competition, surprisingly that price was lowered from $9.99 after Tris was removed.

Tris was actually around well before the iTunes App Store, originally created to work on Jailbroken iPhones installed via the Installer App, then later ported as an official App once Apple launched it’s iPhone 2.0 SDK. I contacted Mahalis to find out what the future holds for the Tris App. Will Tris be making it’s way back to the jailbroken scene via Cydia or Installer 4.0? (more…)
