Well, in terms of Apple taking reprisals, the 1.1.4 update certainly doesn’t do much. In fact, 1.1.4 unlock methods are already circulating the Internet, while previously discovered jail break techniques continue to work just fine.

New for Mac OS X users — The Operator’s iNdependence v1.4 beta 5 — adding full support for iPhone system software 1.1.4.

iNdependence v1.4 beta 5 changelog:

  • Added SIM unlocking on firmware 1.1.4 (using gunlock)
  • Changed the SIM unlock warning to reflect new information with regard to IPSF-based unlocking
  • Made it so that iNdependence automatically removes old versions of the RAM disks it creates
  • Changed the credits for the RAM disk jailbreak method
  • Updated the documentation for the new SSH removal dialog

And everyone should know this, a message from The Operator –

…ok, now I’m taking this whole media thing seriously. I just heard that www.iphoneunlockuk.com is basically selling my software. They essentially give you a small wrapper program which downloads iNdependence, and charge money for doing that. And they were even promoted on UK media shows! I urge people (both media and otherwise) to combat this scammery by telling everyone where to get iNdependence and that it’s free.
