The iphone-dev team has released PwnageTool 2.0.1 for folks who experienced problems with the earlier version.

PwnageTool 2.0.1 changes:

  • It auto-finds the bl39 and bl46 files better, if they’re on your computer
  • It creates the ~/Library/iTunes/Device Support/ folder if not present, which should help with some 1600 errors people have been having.
  • Many people have reported the PwnageTool not starting up at all (the icon never stops bouncing). This issue should be resolved now.
  • The Sparkle AppCast URL is fixed in this version, so automatic updates should work for future releases.

This recent post was made on the iPhone Dev Team’s blog:

Boldog Születésnapot!

Boldog Születésnapot pytey! Most nem tudunk neked egy letölthető születésnapi ajandékot adni, de nagyon hamar az is megérkezik!

What language is that written in? What the hell does it mean? The language is Hungarian and some free online translation services will give you some pretty useless translations:

Happy birthday pytey! This time not tudunk for you one letölthető birthday ajandékot adni , but very soon the also fetch!

Someone posted in the comments on the blog that it translates as the the following:

Happy Birthday guys! Very Very soon we will have for you a downloadable birthday present for you, so hold on tight!

Luckily I happen to have a friend who knows some Hungarian and he confirmed the above translation with his own version:

Happy birthday right now i cant give you a download for your present, but it will get there soon

There we have it another wonderful coming soon message. Anymore coming soon messages and I think I’ll cry.

It’s here — iPhone DevTeam’s Pwnage…

Pwnage Screenshot

Mac OS X features:

  • iPwner: Pwns your iPhone, the safer jailbreak
  • IPSW Builder: Lets you create custom firmware to load to you pwnd phone including unlocking, neutering, custom pictures, activation, and bootloader upgrade/downgrade.
  • Bootneuter: A neutered bootloader survives iTunes updates, even updates to 1.2.0 (aka 2.0). Unlike unlocking which requires a new patch for each firmware version, you only need to neuter once.

The “DevTeam” would like to announce the release of the OS X version of the PwnageTool application.

The team (and especially Wizdaz) have been working hard to bring you this release in as short a time as possible.

The plan (4 weeks ago) was to release a Mac tool only. This was decided because of the lack of reliable Mac filesystem tools on Windows, and the fact that the task of porting them would be too time consuming.

With that in mind the genius that is “cmw” stepped up to the plate and offered his services to the DevTeam. He proposed to provide a tool that would give the same functionality and User Interface as the Mac tool.

cmw has done an almost unthinkable task and ported the almost complete Pwnage Tool to Windows in a little under a week, and we would like to thank him for this unbelievable work. He is currently in the final test stages and hopefully this should be finished within the next 24 hours (but even he needs sleep and family time occasionally!) We’ll post a link as soon as the testing has finished.

cmw’s site is at http://www.iphonelinux.org

The Mac tool is available at http://www.iphone-dev.org
