For the countless emails we receive concerning this task, here you go… Create ringtones with iTunes in less than 5 minutes.
Thanks oren
Comments (5)The Windows iPhone app that does it all — jailbreak, install Installer.app (for 3rd party apps/games) & custom ringtones, SIM unlock, and “all kinds of other wonderful things” — has been bumped to version 2.0. Being a Mac user I cannot confirm its usability, as of the currrent moment; however, it may run fine under Parallels. I’ll provide an update on that momentarily.
Everything of utmost importance can be found on the Google Code project page. Visit the source link before doing anything, I cannot stress that enough.
Most importantly, iDemocracy now supports iPhone system software 1.1.2! Details on that are bolded below.
iDemocracy is the very first iPhone 1.1.1 jailbreak and third-party app installation solution for the Windows platform, written by Drakenza which is (at least partially) automated, and has a GUI interface. It is currently supported on Windows XP/Vista and requires only iTunes, an iPhone, and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.
iDemocracy 2 brings all kinds of new features like free ringtones on firmwares 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, as well as File Browsing (using Manzana) and all kinds of other wonderful things.
iDemocracy NOW SUPPORTS FW 1.1.2. However, it cannot unlock OTB 1.1.2 iPhones running bootloader 4.06 (yet). There will be a release 2.1 shortly after the release on the 16th which will add this functionality as soon as possible.

Comments (9)Update: Ah! Those who upgraded to iTunes 7.5 may notice their custom ringtones have vanished. I was wondering what happened to mine and never pieced it together. After doing some research it would appear iTunes 7.5 wipes away any custom ringtones, that is once you re-establish a connection with the iPhone. Otherwise, everything else remains intact — or so it seems.
iTunes 7.5 is now available for download. It features a new method for activating the iPhone wherever service is offered.
iTunes 7.5 features the ability to activate iPhone wherever service is offered and support for Phase, a new interactive music game designed exclusively for iPod nano (third generation), iPod classic, and iPod (fifth generation). This release also includes bug fixes to improve stability and performance.
It’s safe to upgrade — even if your iPhone is hacked/unlocked.
Furthermore, QuickTime 7.3 is also available. It includes some iPhone-specific updates…
bitSplit returns with a new version of iFuntastic — the Mac OS X tool aimed towards simplifying the knitty gritty task of hacking & customizing an iPhone. Now save yourself time/trouble when it comes to jailbreaking v1.1.1, or even cropping and installing custom ringtones. You know how tedious that can be.
4.6.1 changes:
- customized ringtone support for 1.1.1 (unshackling not required)
new functions for Intel and PowerPC:
- Downgrade firmware 1.1.1 to firmware 1.0.2
- Upgrade firmware 1.0.2 to unshackled firmware 1.1.1
- Unshackle firmware 1.1.1: combines the above twoThe process is tricky, but it only requires patience and a ridiculous number of (automated) restarts and switches to iTunes and back.
Terminal, SSH, WiFi, CyberDuck, AppTapp, Installer, iNdependence: none are required!A wizard will guide you through each process.
You’ll end up with an unshackled 1.1.1 phone, with Installer uh, installed - ready to customize and install native applications and ringtones.- combined Setup and Troubleshooting pages into one simplified page
- automated phone restart and recovery/dfu modes: no more need to hold down buttons!
(well, except on PowerPC - and when things go wrong…)
Please note…
iFuntastic requires a Mac running OS X 10.4.9 or greater and is compatible with iTunes 7.4.1,2 and iPhone Firmware 1.0.2 & 1.1.1.
If you have installed a previous version, you may need to remove the “TempFiles1″ folder from “/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/bitSplit Enterprises/iFuntastic” for this version to work properly

Comments (1)Being a Mac user I missed this release a couple of days ago, Nate True’s iBrickr v0.91. Easily jailbreak, upload 3rd party apps, manage ringtones, and much more… iBrickr is the perfect iPhone companion for those running on a Windows operating system.
What’s new?
Version 0.91 fixes the iphoneinterface crashing bug when installing applications. Ends up I forgot an essential file in the final archive.
Version 0.9 can guide you through the process of downgrading a phone from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2. Note that this will not debrick phones that were unlocked before the upgrade. Firmware download options are optimized, no more accidental restores.

Thanks for enlightening me, hackmaster

Comments (4)Update: iBrickr v0.8 has been released:
Version 0.8 lets you upload multiple files at a time (for NES ROMs and File view only for now), and lets you add ringtones without modifying your phone. NOTE: Unmodded ringtone manager will cease to work properly when iTunes begins letting you buy ringtones.
Version 0.7 replaces the Install Application button with “Browse Applications” - clicking an app icon in Browse will download and install it to your phone in one step. Also included is integrated management for NES ROMs, Voice notes, and EBooks for the Books application. These are linked to from the Applications view when you have those applications installed.
The interface is designed to read like an interactive tutorial - just download the Zip file, extract it somewhere, and run ibrickr.exe (I’ll have an installer soon). Plug in your iPhone and iBrickr will guide you straight through the steps of modifying your iPhone. Once that’s done (takes about 10 minutes), you can manage ringtones and applications to your heart’s content.

By the way, everyone reading this, the Turbo SIM worked! I am now using a fully unlocked iPhone on Rogers here in Toronto! Thanks to C.J. who donated his TSIM after I busted mine. Word to the wise: they’re extremely brittle — be careful when adjusting the fit.

Comments (6)Presenting bitSplit’s most recent iFuntastic release, version 2.1.0 b001. iFuntastic for Mac OS X allows anyone to easily customize their iPhone, and I mean easily. Truly — it’s user-friendly to the max! Custom ringtones, set a new carrier logo, rearrange the home screen, you name it — all customizable!
Very nicely done bitSplit!

Comments (2)Two tutorials, for both Mac OS X and Windows, are now available detailing the steps to add custom ring tones on your iPhone. Both set of instructions are somewhat tedious; read carefully, use with caution, and within little time you’ll be the coolest ever — answering your iPhone in style!
All requirements are available in our downloads area.
