Comments (47)Tired of searching around the internet for where to download ipsw files? Kalieb has created us a nice little Windows application to make downloading iPhone firmware ipsw files a little easier. It is a simple program that lists all the iPhone firmware with a download and info button. The manager uses direct links to Apple’s servers for all versions of the iPhone software to date. Kalieb promises the software will also update itself with new links in the future.
You can grab from our iPhone Downloads section under “iPhone Utitlities”::”Windows” or use this direct link: Kalieb’s iPSW Manager.
Note: We always have the iPhone’s firmware files along with some custom ones hosted here:

Many Microsoft Windows Vista users for both 32 and 64 bit versions have been experiencing problems with Apple’s new iTunes 8. What kind of problems? The worst kind, the infamous windows blue screen of death! In response to this Apple has quietly swapped the Windows version on their servers with a new iTunes 8 download file that should fix these bugs. They have also published a few workarounds that may help those still being affected.
If you were one of those who downloaded iTunes 8 right away and are having problems, try uninstalling it then downloading it again from Apple to reinstall. If that fails to work try these solutions from Apple’s Technical documents:
Comments (11)Solution 1:
* Disconnect your iPhone or iPod from Windows Vista.
* Uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support
* For Classic View
* Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
* First select Apple Mobile Device Support, click Uninstall.
* Select iTunes, click Uninstall.
* For Control Panel Home View
* Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
* First select Apple Mobile Device Support, click Uninstall.
* Select iTunes and click Uninstall.
* Restart the computer.
* Re-download and install the updated iTunes 8 installer from www.apple.com/itunes/download.Important: Do not use the iTunes8Setup or iTunes864Setup file you previously downloaded. The reason for this note is Apple wants users to download the re-release version of iTunes 8.

Comments (14)The ever popular iPhone Dev Team has released their XPWN 0.3 Sources to the public. This is the firmware 2.0 version of their cross-platform jailbreaking library/command-line utility.
We’ve tested it on Linux, Windows XP, and Windows Vista for both the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G thus far, but since it uses the same FirmwareBundles files as PwnageTool, and we know those work for the iPod touch, there ought not be any problems.
The real significance of this to people who don’t know how to use the command line, is that others can now begin creation of easy to use one click solutions for the iPhone 2.0 on any platform they wish.
iUnlocked.org had this comment on the release:
This release means that we at iunlocked.org will begin work on writing a GUI wrapper for the Windows Platform to perform the operations needed to create PWNED ipsw restore files.
I’m sure we’ll have plenty of software to report on in the next few weeks so make sure to check back!
